Hello everyone,
I am new to this forum, I just wanted to know if everyone who got Aor, got two Aors.. I got my AOR as the sponsor on Friday, April 26,2019.. but my spouse(principal applicant) has not gotten an email. I am not able to link the paper application. Should we have gotten 2 separate AORs (sponsor and applicant)? With different UCI numbers? We submitted our application on March 14th 2019.

Just got off the phone and they said my application has been received but not opened yet so no AOR at this time.

If my wife's visa is expiring May 11, should I apply for urgent processing?
I agree with @Mar1219 that you can’t depend on what they say. I have my personal bitter experience with them from the last time when I applied in December. Everyone from the same submission dates got their AORs and they were telling me for two weeks after that “your application is in the system and rest assured you will get your AOR soon”... and I was repeatedly asking that my visit visa is expiring soon so what if application comes back after my visa is expired and they were insisting that since it’s already in system it won’t go back, and it never happened etc.” and guess what I trusted them and didn’t applied visitor extension and just after 2 days of my visa expiry my file was delivered to my door. I was so sick and felt deception that why would someone hold my file until my visa get expired and only then they will send it back to me for a little reason. Perhaps it was only a human error or unintentional act but it cost me $200 for restoration of status, more time to fill up all new forms as per new checklist and send again.

So I would suggest you that if you don’t get your AOR by the end of this week, you should apply for extension of your visa / work permit / change of status to visitor (to whatever status you already have) and shall not wait until the last moment depending on what IRCC call center says. Hope that helps !

I am Mar 14 too. I guess we all get one AOR. Which comes to the sponsor’s email. Welcome to the forum.

That’s so disappointing, even my work visa is expiring on may 12 and they told me same thing that your application is now in order and you should wait for AOR, have patience.

Yeah that’s what they say. They would also tell you that “you just called yesterday asking about the same thing and be patient etc” when you will call them again. It seems like they track the call history of one particular applicant before they can help him. Lol

By the way, seems like you have 2 weeks in work permit expiry. If I was in your shoe, I will have all the documents ready to apply for extension/ change of status/ visit visa (whatever apply to your case) and wait one more week and if I don’t get AOR then I will apply for the extension/ else.

Though I wish you good luck that you don’t reach to that point and get your AOR before that.

Last week Friday (26.04)
Looking at timelines of inland Feb, I can see that they are taking 5-10 days on average to send work permits after AOR. I also acknowledge that some of them got their work permit within 2-4 days too but that’s exceptional.

So I guess you can wait few more days or atleast by the end of this week before you call them. Good luck

Hi, you will only receive one AOR. The UCI number included in the email is the SPONSOR’S UCI. Once you link your application to gckey using the application number, you can find the applicant’s UCI, which is what we used to then link the work permit. Try all the options you can to link your app online and remember to put “2” for number of family members. Hope this works for you!

You do not receive the application number for the OWP, you don’t see it until you successfully link OWP using the applicant’s UCI, which you’ll find in your gckey account after you link your PR application

The OWP Can sometimes take up to a week to successfully link. I got lucky and was able to link my husband’s after one day, but it’s different for everyone.

Thanks for the advice everyone.

I included extension of work permit in my original application, should I apply to that again at the end of the week or do you mean change the status to visitor at the end of the week if there's no AOR? She's currently working right now so ideally would like to continue working there
