Thanks @xylene for the clarification :) I checked the above link also which says that clearly.

Any solution/ suggestion regarding the return trip to Canada since there is no PR card? The CIC website says that PR card will not be valid and will be taken back at oath time

You can travel with the Landing paper back to Canada (only if you cross on foot, or cross on a private/rental vehicle). So your best bet would be to fly closer to a border city and drive back to Canada.

What I have done in the past is to leave my car at Buffalo airport, fly out to my destination in US, Fly back, take my car and cross the border with my Indian passport and Landing paper (well before I got my PR card).

Hi All,

I was wondering if anyone in the group had to get a name change affidavit done for OCI.?

Basically when your Indian has both your name in the given name field and surname is blank. But Canadian passport has it flipped.

I was told by BLS to get a name change affidavit. It would be really appreciated if anyone has a sample I might use.

Thanks

My Indian passport had Surname - Blank and Given Names - Sunil Kumar
My PR CARD had Surname - Kumar and First name - Sunil
My Citizenship certificate has Surname - Kumar and First name - Sunil
My Canadian Passport has Surname - Kumar and First name - Sunil
For OCI which I have applied they will issue it exactly the way the Canadian passport has it.
So my question is why do you need a name change affidavit?

Coz my Canadian Passport has both my name is the last name field. And given name has ''XXX'

This could have been avoided if you had split your name and provided the same at the time of PR application last stage ( PPR) where they send across a Annexure A or something . I had done the split there though my Indian passport had the surname field blank.

April 8th Application submitted for 2 surrender ppt and 1 OCI (courier service)
April 16 received cancelled ppt and certificates
April 17 received original documents (oci application)
OCI status currently - in process

Good for you !

Applied OCI - 15 March
Approved - 18 April
Collected personally from BLS- 26 April.

Thus my entire journey from filing for Citizenship to OCI comes to an end.
All the very best to all forum members .

A quick question : for the OCI application can the mailing address be different from the permanent address ?

I would be moving to a neighboring city next month, and would not have an address proof in time for the application.

I don't think so. They want address proof (typical Indian Govt Requirement ) you may want to choose to pick up personally from BLS office .
But the oci card is going to state the current address you live in .

@xylene and @KRP , so both of you applied OCI 12 and 15 March and received final booklet on 26 April? So, total period is only 1.5 months? Please confirm. I was thinking it will take more than 2 months.

I am expecting oath soon and planning to start OCI immediately as I am planning to travel to India in Sept and I was concerned whether I have enough time to get OCI

B.t.w, which BLS office processed your applications- Toronto / Brampton or any other?
