Thank you for your detailed reply! I think we can have a ceremony but I am still not clear if living together is a must and how will it affect our application.
Of course it's a must.

Common law partners must prove cohabitation for at least 12 months and married couples have to prove cohabitation, though there's no specific requirement in terms of how long they must live together before applying.

This immigration stream is for spouses and common law partners who are seriously committed, and living together is definitely one of the basic requirements.

EDIT: Inland spousal applications require cohabitation. If the application is an outland one, then there's no such requirement, of course.

It is strange that a couple would decide to not live together when they can. This is more like separation before divorce. I am afraid it may not be a good indication that you are in true/good relationship in front of immigration officers.

Hi Everyone, is there anybody can confirm. If we need to send original marriage certificate for India or a Notary attested photocopy is enough for that.

Another, I received two certificate. one from the Court and one from the Gurudwara Sahib. Is that would be good if I send both of the certificated ? Please suggest !

Hey all! Quick question...

For our outland application from Japan, we have to submit a few different documents that will be translated. Getting a certified copy made of some of these documents(koseki tohon) is proving to be a nightmare, and having the originals replaced would only cost us about 10 CAD. Would it be acceptable to send original documents instead of certified copies for some of the things we need to have translated? I am fully aware that we won't have the originals returned to us!

Big thank you to everyone on this forum for keeping me sane during this hectic process!

Hello,

Which other documentation/evidence I should include in the inland application? I reviewed the documents indicated on the checklist, however, I would like to know which other documents would be effective to add.

My husband is the sponsor

So far I have the followings:
- Passports (husband-wife)
- Forms
- Proof of education records and employment letters (wife)
- Letters from friends (4), family (2)
- Pictures (more than 20)
- Criminal Record (wife)
- Employment letter (husband)
- Tax records for the previous years (2017 and 2018)- husband and wife
- Rental agreement
- Emails from the landlord forwarding the hydro bill
- Email to the landlord informing payment made
- Post from Social media (Facebook)
- Record of text messages from phone, Facebook and Instagram
- Bank Statements showing the e-transfers made to my partner to pay part of the rent and expenses
- Driver Licenses (husband-wife)
- Birth Certificate (wife)
- Explanation letter from my partner describing our relationship

Should I include more letter from friends? My partner and I have been living together for 9 months. The ceremony was on January, so I'm still waiting for the marriage certificate. Any suggestion would be appreciated.

Hello everyone,
I'm a Canadian PR holder. I'm currently engaged to my soon to be wife and plan to get married soon and bring here here.
My soon to be wife, has a visitor visa already and is coming to Canada on a business trip this month. So to speed up the process of visa and save time, we were thinking of getting married while she is here.

Is it okay to get married in canada while on a visitor visa on a business trip?

If we do get married here, I was planning on sponsoring her, applying for open work permit and PR when she returns to india in March, So this falls under outland sponsorship category now.

We plan to get married in india with indian traditions in june and return together to canada in june.
Now that we would be married, her application being in process

Can she re-enter canada on the same visitor visa as my spouse ? (I've read in some posts that this can cause an issue, since she is now married to a canadian PR, and the immigration officer might think that she will extend her stay illegally while on visitor visa)

If she gets an open work permit before we travel back in june, is it okay for her to enter canada as my spouse on an open work permit

Also, we started the application as outlander, but in june when we come back together, does she now become inland applicant? Do we need to inform immigration department of this change and what are the consequences of this change if any

If anyone could provide any information on this it would be really helpful. Or any other suggestions.

Thanks in advance! :)

We are planning to get our Spousal sponsorship going soon (my PGWP expiring November 2020, she is Canadian citizen). We will be common-law nearly two years and have very good jobs....secret level security etc. I was planning on proposing this year. We would not be planning the wedding for a year at least (as we want to get married in Scotland....yes we have talked about it....I'm Scottish). I wouldn't have imagined it would be a problem being engaged, but is it just a case of when we get married to contact the IRCC when this happens. We/I don't want to get married just for the sake of it, so that's not an option. Any constructive feedback greatly appreciated. Edit: This is Inland

Its written on the checklist that one needs to submit photocopy unless mentioned in country specific requirements. For India, only photocopy is required. You can take a colour photocopy of marriage certificate and submit. In our case, the photocopy centre put a stamp on back of it 'colour xerox'. However that's not mandatory. You can simply attach a colour photocopy. Notary is not required for photocopy.

You can submit copy of Gurudwara certificate as well and can just write a note stating that it is issued by Gurudwara and give details about it.
Just follow the checklist and country specific requirements....

As per country specific requirements for India, National identity doc is not required, unless there is delay in birth registration. However, we attached a copy as there was a question in one of the form asking for national identity doc and number.
If you want, you can give Aadhar card details in that section and attach copy of Aadhar card. Again just an advise... follow the checklist and country specific requirements thoroughly...

Hi guys,

I am currently preparing for my wife's spousal sponsorship application.
I am a permanent resident in Canada and my wife is still in my home country. We got married in October 2018.
Situation is I am the sponsor and my wife is being sponsored( principal applicant).

I have a question regarding this form.

1. IMM1344 E Application to Sponsor, Sponsorship Aggreement and Undertaking

Part 1: Application to Sponsor and Undertaking
If you are found ineligible to sponsor, indicate whether you want to:

Box 1--Withdraw your sponsorship application. All processing fees less $75 will be refunded
Box 2-- Proceed with the application for permanent residence. Processing fees will be retained

Question: Which of the above selections is applicable based on my situation?

Hope someone with the same experience in the past could help me on this one.

Thanks a lot in advance

Hello,
I need your advice asap.
Just this morning my wife (outside Canada) received an email from Canadian Immigration requiring her to attend an interview in Accra Ghana in two weeks time. According to the email; The purpose of the interview will be to determine her eligibility for admission to Canada.
From the email, she is required to bring the following original documents while coming.
a. Our original Marriage certificate.
b. Photos of your marriage if you are being sponsored by your spouse.
c. Proof of communication (i.e. Photos, letters, emails, phone bills.
d. Any other documentation you may have in respect to your relationship.
e. Historical identification such as school documents, birth certificates
Infact, she submitted all the above itemized required documents along side with her application in May 2018.
QUESTIONS:
1. What is the interview like? What questions will they likely ask her?
2. On proof of communication, most of our communication is on whats app chat and phone calls. So should we just print our chats on whats app only? As we do not really communicate via emails and letters.
3. Service providers do not issue phone bills in her country of residence. So what is the alternative to phone bills?
4. Are there other important documents not mentioned above we could add to proof our relationship?
5. Could it be that the reason they invited her for interview was because I was in Nigeria on vacation to be with her for more than two weeks? I just came back on the first of February 2019. Which is 5 days ago.
Please kindly advise us on what to do, or what to answer at the interview.
=== Nigerians and Ghanians who were invited for interview in the past, please kindly share your experience with us if you don't mind ===.
Thanks for helping.
Regards
Wisdom7
