Some info about the mysterious PReVU in GCMS:

I raised a CSE back in Dec. and for the first time, they didn't send me a template response. This is the response:

You will find below useful information that we hope will help understand the process and current status of your permanent residence application under the Canadian Experience Class.

  • The initial assessment to ensure your application is complete has been finalized on July 10, 2018. Following this assessment, your application was transferred to the Ottawa, Canada office. The office will contact you if they need other documents from you.
  • We can confirm that the CV/Resume has been received by the responsible office on November 22, 2018.
  • The background verifications are currently in process.

First of all, the person exactly told me the date and the type of my ADR, which shows s/he looked at my profile, so I tend to trust their info more than the template ones.

Second, the background verification was a sign that I was under SS, as by then I knew I had passed eligibility and criminality.

Third, "the initial assessment to ensure your application is complete has been finalized on July 10". The only place in my GCMS notes that has some info on July 10th was my PReVU. In fact, the case analyst set recommended pass A11.2 on June 7th. On July 10th around midnight, PReVU was verified. On Oct. 12th, they passed my R10 Criminality. Finally, mid Nov., SS started.
All in all, it seems to me that PReVU has nothing to do with SS as for me it was verified long before SS. However, I don't know if it is part of eligibility (since the case analyst was mentioning the initial assessment for completeness) or if it is part of criminality as it was done after A11.2 recommended pass. Also, as it was done around midnight, I think it is something simple like verifying information against a database (reference: legalfalcon) that is done automatically.

@legalfalcon Please shed us some light on this topic of you have more info.

The file gets reviews multiple times at different stages of the application and at each stage, it is at the discretion of the officer to review a document or even reject the file. I know it is very uncommon, but it is not entirely impossible. One such case is that after eligibility, criminality, and security is passed, the officer will review everything one more time before issuing ppr. The reason is to make sure that everything is in order.
Agreed please do not panic on review required... analyst go by face value... officers are highly qualified people.. now i know ... and they go by proof of doc not face value

So, did you order a note to see the really situation of your application?
Sorry for the long silence. What the call centre initially told me was right. My appln was approved way back in November. After multiple follow ups, have gotten my PPR. COPR is also complete. In fact got my passport + family's passport and the COPR letter in just a week. Luckily the last leg was super fast for me.

GCMS arrives in 3 weeks now going by recent trends.
If yours has been delayed, order a new set.
I've had 5+ people tell me they got their notes in 3 weeks+ (they all ordered the notes in January 2019)

I think this is a one-off case tho. Because @Nishika22 note shows that her eligibility is still Met. I believe most of the October IP2's are awaiting officer's review. No officer has looked into their applications yet.
True that! I've ordered another set of GCMS notes two weeks ago though, so should be able to update the forum in another two weeks on what has been happening on my application - while I suspect it's simply gathering dust, I need my notes to be completely sure :p

Looks like CIC has increased people in the ATIP section at the expense of decreasing the headcount of visa officers who are supposed to be reviewing our files :p Hence notes are coming faster while files are moving slower :D

It'll probably return to status quo in a few weeks.
Remember when CSEs were being replied to in 20 minutes as opposed to 7 days? Now it's gone back to a minimum of 3 days.

Hehehe...'nothing endures but change' seems to be a firm favorite among CIC mottos :p Just to shore up what you're saying, I got a email response from Ottawa in 3 days this time (last week of Jan) compared to the first one which I raised on 19th Dec and was responded to only on 5th of Jan!!!

I think CIC ignored all the ATIP requests made on Dec. so now they have time to work on Jan. ones.
Very effective way of dealing with backlog :D

Same way as they're dealing with June applications right? ;) Theyre ignoring us while they process Oct and Nov applications :p Pretty consistent of CIC across departments I must say
