How can I get Back

Hi,
I was in Canada in 2001 on a student visa and attended college for just a semester, I dropped out of college and applied for a refugee status in 2002, but got married in 2003. Before I could apply for my permanent residency, I was charged with three counts of fraud, I served no jail time but was on probation for one year. After my probation my wife asked for a divorce and I couldn’t apply for the permanent residency. My Dad passed Away in 2005 and I decided to come to Ghana, I asked for my passport back from immigration and they told me the only way I can get it back was to withdraw my application for the refugee claim before I can have it. But by then I really wanted to be at my Dads funeral so signed a form and that led to my deportation. But now I would like to visit, So how do I go about it? Pls share Thanks. And I have a Ghanaian Passport.

1. You would have to apply for Authorization to Return (ARC), it is unlikely that you would receive it for a visit. See: http://tinyurl.com/y7ms4ry8

You need to apply for an ARC and a TRV. Given your background, I’d say the chances of returning to Canada are pretty close to zero.

Economic programs like express entry and provincial nomination are probably the only ones you have the possibility of being approved for. No one here can tell you what the likelihood is of you being granted a TRV to the US, though we can guess that your chances are the same as in Canada because the 2 countries share immigration information.
