Hi Gauravsharma, I hope you can help me.
I'm currently a student with student visa expiry on Dec, 2019
My girlfriend is in the Philippines now, we are planning to get married here in Canada so she can apply for SOWP immediately. Unfortunately her Tourist/Visit visa got denied for several reasons about not convinced that she will leave Canada at the end of her stay.
So i'm planning to go back home and marry her so we can still continue to apply for her SOWP.
My question is, will the refusal of her tourist visa gives an impact to her application of SOWP?
and I'm confused who will apply for the SOWP, does it need to be

First thing. Its a bit tough(not impossoble) to get an sowp when spouse is on student visa. Spouse will have to show a prety good amount of funds. I would personally suggest you guys to be patient. Get your pgwp and a job in NOC O, A or B category. Then apply for sowp. Im positive she will get sowp. As for now, your status is student, you can not work more than 20 hours and so cant support your spouse. So your spouse will have to show funds and work experience also to convince cic. Even then, chances are not very high of getting approved. Sorry mate but it is what it is. Just be patient is all i can say. Else, show damn good funds at your spouses end and state that she will support you

Can anyone help me out ? My wife she is visitor status in CANADA now and her status is expiring soon. We applied PR and got AOR few days ago. It is PNP paper based application. I am currently unemployment and holding PGWP, I have applied OWP for her twice but all of them got refused because cic said I need to be employed in NOC O,A,B job categories in order for her to be qualified for OWP.

My QUESTION is :
Is my wife eligible for OWP since we got the PR AOR.
Any suggestions will be appreciated. Thank you.
Things are not very positive at your end mate. Unless you get your pr its hard to convince cic without a job with NOC O A or B

@gauravsharma11210 -I am in Canada on ICT and wife/kids in India, and want to apply for wife SOWP. She does not have any work experience. Do you suggest TRV or SOWP?
Hi there. Things are positive at your end. You can apply for sowp also. Sowp gives authority to work for any employer. So NOC category is not necessary for your wife so technically even if she do not have work experience. It should not matter. But yes if you look at the processing times, for visitor visa applied from india its 28 days. And SOWP applied within canada, 28 days approx. Now SOWP applied for someone who is in India can take anytime between 12 weeks upto 6 months or may be more. Depending on Cic. Choice is yours

Hello

My wife is a student in Canada. She has just started her Masters (Jan 2019).
I have a few questions. I am an Indian.

1) I intend to apply for Open Work Permit from India. Is it easier from home country or from Canada?

2) I would like to know if there is a separate category called "Spousal Open Work Permit" in place of the normal "Open Work Permit"?
Is yes, how do I apply.

Thanks a lot

See to qualify for sowp, its the same whether you apply from India or canada.

With Processing times theres a huge difference that i agree. Theres no special column where you can select sowp. Its based on the questions that you answer during your eligibility check online on cic.

Dont forget to show social bonds in india and prety good funds for your application. All the best

hello..... when I applied study visa of my wife then by mistake I wrote my job as accountant, but I did not upload any document related to my job. now I want to apply sowp. and I am customer care executive with only 12th standard as my education. does it effect my sowp as I initially wrote accountant because now I have to submitted all my document related to my customer care executive job. please reply......
When did you apply for student visa for your wife.?

If it has been a bit of time. You can always say they changed your role as you wanted to move into customer service. Thats fine. Just have your job reference letter from your employer when you apply. All the best

Hello everyone, I am new to this forum...My wife is a international student in Toronto...I wanted to apply for SOWP...Is anyone here in this forum who applied for SOWP application and got the approval without involving agents or lawyers? Require guidance in this regards....Thanks in advance
There are quiet a lot of people who apply themselves and get approved. Any agent can not do anything else for you what you can not do for yourself. Just be honest with cic. Be smart and careful with documentation and be confident

Hey Gaurav, I am a first time poster. I have a lawyer, but I am not convinced. Here is the situation.
I got PNP nomination both for work permit and PR. I chose to first get the work permit and move to Saskatchewan. My visa was approved last month. The lawyer at that time also advised study permit for my kids which were also approved along with mine. Lawyer had also advised for SOWP for my wife. Now this is stuck somewhere.
I linked the application after many tries under the "International Experience Class" sub-category. My first question - Is this the category under which application is being processed?
Application was submitted on 19th Nov. Lawyer now says that usual processing time is around 68 days. He got this number when he tried to push the case through local MP (without success). My next question - Is this the usual processing time?

We applied from US, so no need for biometrics, interview etc. Do you think my wife will realistically get her approval in next few weeks, given 6 8 days timeline or will it take months? Any recourse if it takes too long?

Thanks
Ah bud. It can take longer with cic. If you have the application number. Try contacting the local MP yourself. Things will be more clear

Hello gaurav
My brother got a interview call from Canadian embassy in Delhi for Spouse Work permit, his wife is studying in Canada.
What should he prepare for the interview? what documents should he take along.
They have asked for "Bring all required documentation with you to your interview including marriage photos depicting all ceremonies, post marriage photographs, proof of on-going communication, status of inviter in Canada, proof of on-going education of inviter in Canada".
Did someone else in the group had similiar interview.
Any help and tips would be welcomed.
hi i hope my reply finds you in time.

They are going to ask your brother all the things that are on the file and basic questions like what would he do in canada. And a lil bit about his work experience. Basically they just want to cross verfiy the documents. Make sure your brother knows all the things about his wife. Where she lives. Name of college, her course name and where she lives, when she arrived in canada and all that. Just be confident. Let us know the results too. All the best

Hello There

This is not quite related to this thread but if you can help me providing some insight.

I am on spouse OWP. My permit was valid till 17 Jan 2019 however I got my work permit extension till Sept. Now I want to apply for VISA so that I can travel in between. In the meantime I have created a profile to apply for PR.

So if I apply for VISA extension now, is it going to be a problem? I need to also apply TRV extension for my 4 years old daughter, whose TRV is expiring on 17th Jan 2019. Can I apply the extension together ?

Too many things going on eh. Get a lawyer or call cic directly. Just dont tell them your profile name and ask for advice

Thanks for your response mate! However, may I ask if I can provide the funds from my sponsor/first degree relative for the processing of her open work permit? We have the funds needed actually if it's okay that it will be from my relatives.

Hi gauravsharma,
Here is the situation, I am in permanent resident status, and I have a boyfriend for 4 years who is an international student with study permit expire May 2019. But he dropped the university 2 years ago but still stay in Canada, he is worried about cant renew his study permit due to not attend school so he is planning to apply a common-law relationship with me then apply SOWP. And I am taking a term-off at the university cuz I am transferring another college, currently having a full-time NOC level C job, all of his income from his parents outside of Canada.
I have few questions:
1. If the border officer will check school attending history of his? Can it affect the result of SOWP?
2.We plan to go apply at the boarder, but we are not sure whether IRCC cancel his study permit or not. If they did he will be removed from Canada at boarder.
3.Will the income part affect the result? My salary just a little bit above the minimum salary, and I m going back to university on May.

Thanks, waiting for your apply

I have applied on 4th January 2019, offline for Sowp. Got rejection today with the following reasons "You have not adequately demonstrated that you meet the requirement of a work permit pursuant to section 205(c)(ii) of the regulation.

please suggest how to proceed further.
