I didn't get any progress bar emails (neither the first one telling it is coming, nor the second telling it's already there), but the progress bar has appeared on my account (very useful, I found it very hard to count 6 months from AOR /s). Raised CSE, reply was pretty uninformative, saying that the application is still in process (it could very well mean it is approved and PPR needs to be sent) without giving any specifics or even current VO.
Wanted to make sure my guess was correct, so I also called CIC today. And it was, the agent clarified that everything is finalized and only awaits final action. Sydney office, as you might imagine...

I hope more and more people give feedback and let them know which is glaringly apparent but imperceptible for IRCC that this progress bar is nothing but a obscene joke for the candidates.
Here goes nothing (my views clearly don't count to CIC, but I'm shouting them out loud and clear nevertheless):

What would help you understand your processing time?

A break-up of the estimated processing time among the actual steps - eligibility, security, criminality and medical. Since these are important components of the process, an estimated processing time for each should be provided. A more granular progress bar, that accurately reflects each stage of the process, is what is sorely needed. Not a simple line measuring the time from acknowledgment of receipt to completion of 6 months from the same.

What would have made the text in the application status box more helpful to you?

It should let me know if I lie in the 80% of applications that will indeed get processed in the 6-month timeline or it falls under the 20% for which processing will take longer. As of now, I am aware my security has not started (based on the call placed to an agent) but the text only states that my application will get processed over the next 10 working days. As of now, this appears a highly unlikely scenario, and consequently, the perceived lack of accurate information in the application status box is jarring to me as an applicant who expects full and fair disclosure from the text.

We value your opinion. Please provide additional comments about the progress bar.

The progress bar should be modelled on the GCMS notes. All components - Eligibility, Security, Criminality and Medical - should be provided separately, with an individual progress milestone against each. Considering the process is complex and composite, the progress bar should reflect this reality, and not just show a simple acknowledgement-of-receipt to completion-of-6-months journey.

Hello,

Senior members, need some help. July 20th AOR, medical passed mid August and finally moved to IP2 on Dec 6th. Today I was asked to redo my medicals as they expire in 90 days (got my medicals done on Feb 26, 2018), what does this exactly mean? Should I be worried? Will this delay the application further? or are we close to PPR hence new medical request?

Edit: My husband got his medical done in March 2018, should he also get a new medical proactively?
@cansha @tobs @legalfalcon
Is there anything to worry? NO

Is this normal? YES

Is this going to delay your Application? By a bit (but for good)

Basically your medicals should be valid when you do your first landing in Canada. So redoing the medicals should only allow you to be able vigourously plan your first trip to Canada.

Your husband too should proactively redo the medicals.

Very well written! I know no one will probably read in CIC but it is good to do our part by giving them real feedback and its up to them to use it or not.

Do you know of any accreditations required for Sales, Marketing? Or any that would help?
I don't know much on sales side but you can look at getting linked to various associations who also provide certification like Canadian Professional Sales Association or Canadian Marketing association or Certified Marketing Management Professional. You may also look at some short term university programs which I think will be more beneficial.

Interesting.

Called CIC in the morning, was told that status is same as in my signature but file has been moved to Sydney.
And just now received a ghost update..yayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy...

Not sure if the ghost update is because of file being moved to Sydney or someone actually started working on my file...whatever the reason be, happy to see some movement..
Now back to waiting game!

Thanks for the response...

I am more on the Marketing side, so Sales side might not be very relevant for me either.

I did check Canadian Marketing Association but they provide memberships to Organizations and not individuals. There was one more Marketing Association I saw on the internet but the website looked shammy.

Will keep my tab on courses.

Thanks Again!

Hey guys,
Just incase you saw the progress bar and you hated it/ were dissapointed you can let CIC know how you feel by filling the survey in the link embedded in that email.
PS: They asked specific questions in the survey about what would have made the progress bar more helpful, what you would like to see as a text in your application that will help you understand the process better, etc.
So I think it's important that everyone fills that survey.
Please check your emails for the link.
I had found 3 primary feedback boxes and this is what I wrote in those:

The progress bar does not shed light on either overall completion time or on various steps completion timeline. It seems like just a bar representation of the steps reflecting in the earlier tabular status . It also does not give any new information of the steps involved or completion date of steps completed in the past or to be completed in future.

Also, the progress bar by defaults shows the estimated time as 6 months so we feel that there is no progress being achieved due to the progress bar.

My friends who have completed 6 months get an additional line that it's taking more than usual and they are in the balance 20% where CIC takes more than 6 months.

All June AOR applicants have either completed 6 months or on the verge of it but based on data released by CIC not more than 50% applications have been decisioned. And this progress bar does not empathise to shed more light on their application status.

Some application specifications notes which are also captured in GCMS notes such as concern area so that applicant can identify and support CIC in processing their application with any additional document or information.
Secondly, contact details of currently responsible VO so that escalations can be done at relevant forum instead of randomly connecting at any general office or email id.

Some progress should be seen with the Progress Bar in terms of helping CIC process cases promptly and faster as well as update applicants with exact status, pending processes and realistic completion timelines which I am sure CIC puts all efforts to adhere to.

IMO as far as IRCC is concerned, no accreditations are required for Sales/Marketing.

I was finally able to send my CSE (had to use edge, firefox was being funny) at least to let them know I'm alive. Ready to get my template answer in a month :). What will it be? (1) your application is in progress. (2) 20% of applications take more than 6 months or (3) decision has been made, rest assured you will be contacted soon (tm)?
I guess the only thing that they have left to do is that they would mention that these are the 3 reasons we always provide so you may choose which suits you best and helps you sleep at night.

Yes ! The progress bar is more of a % time elapsed over a six month period. So for those who have completed six months, imo the progress bar will be at 100%.

Delay in receiving GCMS notes isn't abnormal. Mine took 70days to arrive and I ordered through GCMSbuddy
I just got the second request of GCMS notes which I ordered from official website today. Took exactly 30 days. but I haven't received the one I ordered from GCMS Buddy yet.
