Hey guys, I doubt this will really help but.. it could be worse.

I applied in April 2017, CIC started processing my application in May 2017 and I gave my test in November 2017. I’ve been in process since then, and haven’t received any communication from CIC in more than a year now.

I’ve sent two web forms, and received identical template answers both times. My MP’s office has reached out twice on my behalf, two months apart, and both times was the same answer - “security checks, no timeline.” I’ve applied for my ATIP notes about a week ago, so I’m interested to see what the outcome of that is.

So, 18 months down the line, I’ve realized there really isn’t anything I can do but, as I’ve been told multiple times, wait. I’ve considered talking to a lawyer, but I think I have a few more months of waiting in me before I get to that stage. I’ll give CIC another call on the one year anniversary of my test and directly ask them to reach out to the office as a reminder (which they have refused to do in the past - I believe that only works if you haven’t received a test invitation yet).

Cheer up everyone, waiting sucks but it’ll all be worth it. :)
Hello,
Can I ask you are from which country or which region in the world? During this waiting period you have not been asked to send any document? Mine is also in process since October 2017. I did exam and interview in September. 2018. Is it possible to ask more documents after interview? Thanks

what did the agent tell you after your test, do you remember?
He said that we will see your documents again and if there is any information, we will tell you and if not, you will be invited to oath ceremony in 2 to 3 months. Have you seen anybody who is asked to send documents after interview?

No, He did not say anything about background check. I have an Iranian friend who is refugee and came from Turkey to Canada. His status changed to DM next day after his citizenship exam. Do you know many Iranians still with IP after a year?

Sorry to hear that. I have heard and seen a lot of discrimination with Iranian cases. Even based on what I see here, they take almost two times longer to process Iranian cases. Hope you guys will take it to news and voice it.

Hey beautiful people, any update from this group?
Surprisingly I do have an update - my MP's office followed up with CIC earlier this week and then informed me that my security check is finally passed! All that's left is residence which should hopefully be quick (I never received a RQ)

Sorry to hear that. Did your MP tell you why your case is non routine? Asking because I am in a similar situation . 13 months waiting. MP said you have to wait more no timeline was given and says there is no issues. MP did not say my case was non routine.
