Generally they don't ask for it but to be on safer side take the same amount as you had shown during your file processing for 3 persons
All the best

I plan to do a soft landing sometime in Jan/Feb next year. Will be giving the local address of a friend. Plan is to stay for a max 4-5 days and sort out the SIN, bank account and driving license (if possible).

Bank account I would say open only once you land permanently because they need some minimum amount in account otherwise penalty charges are there. Driving license also would need more days as u need to clear some tests to get one. get ur SIN and experience the lifestyle. We stayed for 4 nights and it was really hectic as we had a 5 month old with us and one side travel was 18 hrs flight.

Sure thanks for the tip. How do you plan to get hold of your PR card?

I showed my settlement funds as Fixed Deposits during application. Can I show the same FD statements during landing or I need to liquidate the FD and get the amount in my account?

U can show the same fd no need to liquidate. They won't even ask about it. It's just a backup

Hi,
Can someone help me with my soft landing question?
I am in US right now. My plan is to land in Canada (Toronto, Person Intnl Airport) early morning around 5AM, activate the PR by completing the formalities and then fly to India by 2PM flight from the same airport.
My friend who is already in Canada on PR has told me that if I do it this way, then immigration officer might not activate my PR as I am not staying in Canada and visiting Canada just to activate my PR.
Can this happen and should I change my plan?
Thanks in advance.

go ahead, there should not be any issue. I came back after 4 nights stay. They don't check copr at the departure.
