you are mistaken about NOC, the NOC under which you applied must have around 70% matching job duties with the work that you showed and gained points for while creating express entry profile. They are very serious about it.
My apologies for the confusion. I meant to say that many NOCs on CIC website have overlapping job duties. For instance, if a person is a management consultant and works for clients across different industries, he could be eligible for an investment analyst or a statistician or economic analyst; it was true atleast in my case. It could be different in engineering and doctor fields. But yes job duties must match at least 70% of the ones listed on CIC given NOC. On the other hand, if your job duties match with multiple NOCs then you could choose whatever NOC you think is best. I do not mean that a doctor could apply in the category of an engineer. I hope it clarifies the confusion.

You are right here. Just to add my correction to what @digitalmohsin said, they are very serious about the NOC but 'JOB TITLE' is something which fits in the description of what you just said. You may have any job title , which may not even match the ones given in the example list of any particular NOC, but your job duties should be matching to the ones in primary NOC.

Cheers!
I agree

Hey u guys....

Out of curiosity, Does anyone know if while waiting for an additional document, CIC completely stops working on your application?

For instance, if your BG is processing and they ask u an additional PCC, while waiting you submitting it they stop all the process until u send the document?

I am just trying to figure out on how an ADR may delay the application.

Thx

Seems like there's no clear IP1 or IP2 for my case?
Now it's hard to say IP1 or IP2, or if it's relevant at all. However, once they complete reviewing your ADR, your BGC likely turns to "in progress", like many of us did.

My AOR date is Aug 1. My status has been "medicals passed" since around Aug 15. My background check status says "Your application is in progress. We will let you know when the background check starts." No movement has happened to my case other than this.

Other statuses currently on my profile are:
1) We do not need your fingerprints
2) Not additional documents required

Anyone else in the same boat? My status literally has seen no change after Aug 15 when the medicals were passed and background check status was updated to "Your application is in progress. We will let you know when the background check starts."

How long does it take them to "start" this background check?

Not sure if any of this is relevant but:
1) My personal history section is fairly complex with multiple overlapping educational degrees (pursuing full-time degrees and other part-time degrees at the same time), doing jobs and degrees at the same time etc. However, these have been reviewed by an immigration attorney (not a consultant or agent) and they have made this section as clear as possible on my application.

2) Extensive travel history over the last decade (21 countries and multiple trips to many of these).

3) Address history with 6 address changes (all in different countries due to onsite travel).

I do not know if these things make an application more complex to process and add additional time? Anyone else whose AOR date is early August and has been stuck at background check "Your application is in progress. We will let you know when we start your background check"? I'd specifically like to hear if any of you had a complicated "personal history" section with overlapping jobs, part-time and full-time degrees or multiple address changes and/or travel histories. I almost feel like this is working against me.

The ghost update may or may not mean anything. It is unpredictable. I applied through an immigration attorney. They told me that these updates are common and often do not result in any change in many applications. Or sometimes they do result in an actual change. It's just hard to say what these ghost updates mean.

You can try but from what I've heard, it's not easy to reach them. Also, if your AOR date is Aug 23, you're still too early in the process. I don't think there's any reason for you to panic.

I guess you can try calling them if that's the case. No harm in trying. Nothing to lose. Good luck and I hope you get your PPR soon!

As long as all your info is fully laid out clear on the table then u got nothing to worry. A major chunk of Augst 2018 AORs are currently with the following status '"Your application is in progress. We will let you know when the background check starts." So u arent alone and theres nothing to be worried about atleast for now. Applicants who apply from inland canada and USA gets their docs processed faster than the outland applicants. Lets cross our fingers and wait optimisticly. Cheers !!
