hi I recently applied for my post graduate work permit. My TRV expired on December 30 but I made a trip to china and got back on January 3rd in 2018. The customs didn’t give me TRP (the machine system is new to me ) they asked some typical questions such as what is my major. They asked me to go to another window because i have 10,000 dollars on me. After they had few stamps for me they told me I was good to leave.
I wrote it in explanation letter but I am super anxious I have no idea whether it is going to impede my application process.

Where did you flagpole? Also what documents did they require you to provide?
I flagpoled at Peace Arch border. The documents I prepared include: transcript from your university (DON'T OPEN IT), Enrollment letter (it states how long your program is), completion letter, Passport and Student Visa. and form from CIC (they didn't look at it at all).
I did it in May and I remember nobody was there. The officer who helped was extremely nice. I got my 3-year work permit in like 15 minutes.

Also don't forget the fee. Credit card or cash would do

Thanks for your detailed reply. What do you mean “don’t open it” with the transcripts?

Usually it is sealed in an envelop. Once you open it, it kinda lost the validity. You can order it from your university website. I ordered mine from UBC and it costed 15 dollars or something. It contains your detailed course schedule and grades.

Oh then I need to get it sealed cuz my envelope is not sealed. Did they take a hard look at your transcripts?

I have no idea they took the whole package and walked away for a bit. I know people got refused because their envelop is not sealed though. Does your envelop say it lost the validity if you open by yourself? Because mine does.
I can only speak for UBC transcript though...

No my envelop says Officla Transcipts Enclosed, and nothing else. But on the transcript itself says only official if it bears the printed (not embossed) seal of the university. I’m not sure if it’s refering to the envelope seal?

Ya I think it sounds like it... If I were you I would order another one and provide it to border sealed.

Oh man that would take me another 2 weeks. I was thinking if I don’t get it at the border then I’ll apply online. But I guess I’d have to wait then, my stupy permit is expiring in 2 months and the processing time is almost the same length.

Ya I recommend you apply on border... it took my friend a very long time to receive her permit online.
