Hi,

I worked for 4 years as a civil engineering trainee, does it count as a work experience?

Currently I have a company with the number of cnpj, I am a managing partner of it and civil engineer, I have documents that prove my registration and the hours worked during the week, does this serve as a work experience too?

Thank you very much

Hi Asi
The answer has 3 parts assuming you are applying as an FSW candidate from outside Canada. If not, stop reading and ignore the rest. :-[

1. FSW point scale http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/resources/tools/perm/econ/fsw/work.asp

Under this you will get 13 points on 100 for experience between 4 and 5 years.

2. EE Skills Transferability scale http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/department/mi/express-entry.asp (search for "Foreign work experience")

Under this, your work experience can be combined with language proficiency and/or Canadian work experience to net you a maximum of 50 points on 1200 scale depending on the nature of your experience. The maximum points are netted when applicant has 3 years of work experience and those years can be across multiple jobs but within the last 10 years, in the same NOC and full time paid employment.

3. EE - Minimum work experience requirement http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/resources/tools/perm/econ/fsw/minimum.asp

Under this, you will qulaify easily because this requires demonstration of only 1 year of continuous full-time paid employment over the last 10 years.

Having said all that, I recommend that you input your work experience as 4 years and 11 months as of now (which is the truth) and ensure that your primary NOC and the NOC for these jobs is the same (which I guess is also the truth). As for the 8 months gap, be honest and show it as Unemployed. Misrepresentation is a big offence and you don't want to attract that attention from CIC.

As I've explained above, you will still get the highest points everywhere else except on the 67 scale (where you will get the second highest points - 13) but there the highest score (15) will accrue only after 6 years of experience (continuous or otherwise; and over same/multiple NOCs provided they are 0,A or B) over the last 10 years.

Hope this helps. All the best!

Hi,

I had made a blunder while submitting my express entry profile. I had updated my experience at company A from 2012-2015 ,however it should have been 2014-2015. Now after receiving my ITA i realised the mistake. My total CRS points don't change at all but still would that be a problem and should I mention this error in my letter of explanation?

Please help!

Thanks,
Kartik

It does count as an experience if it was full time/part time paid experience. Apprenticeship however, is not counted

I am in the same boat. Few days ago my score raised from 448 to 473 because as per cic I completed my 2 years of work . But in fact I am completing my 2yeaes in oct. now what if I get the ita in 14th draw ? What I am suppose to do? Keep on declining my ita until October or remove those 4 month exp and stay on 448? Can any body please tell me what I am suppose to do now ? Please
Hi senior,
Please suggest on my query:-
1. I completed 2yrs 10months on date of EE profile submission. CRS calculated for 3yrs because of the month and year anomaly.
2. As on date of ITA profile submission I will have 2yrs 11months work experience in terms of days/weeks fulfillment.
Please suggest how will the CIC officers view this situation?
Thanks

Guys need an quick info on, foreign experience.
Which I am holding close too 11 years with organisation like HP, IBM, Infinite computer solution....precisely 5 years, 3 years and 2.5 years all of these were obtained on full time i.e, 40 hours per week as per Indian labour standards.
When I checked my CRS scores on eligibility portal

Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) tool: skilled immigrants (Express Entry).
I only get an option to choose 3 years or more from the drop down. For which my scores for foreign exp are reflecting as 25 points. Will this remain same during my actual enrolling for EE application or for 10+ years of experience my scoring will be increased?

Hi! Help needed!
I worked for a law firm for 10 months and then shifted to another firm(without gap). I've been working at the latter firm for last 7 months. I plan to apply for PR under FSW. Regarding my work experience, would a cumulative period i.e. 10+7= 17 months be accepted or would the work experience only from latter firm be accepted? NOC Code is same for both job profiles/firms. Thanks

Hi everyone! I am quite new to this forum and I would like to ask for some guidance regarding my situation.

I have a total of 6 years of experience as a programmer and I have successfully gathered a good and detailed reference letters from 2 of my past employers (worth of 4 years of experience). The other 1 is not cooperative and the last one is my current employer so I would like to refrain from informing them about my migration plans.

My question is: Do I need to declare all my work experience in my Express Entry profile? Or can I just declare those 2 employers that gave me a detailed reference letter?

I am hoping that someone can provide me some guidance. Thank you very much in advance!

Assuming you are talking about foreign work exp...
You get maximum points for 3 years work exp only. So as along as you have these 2 letters covering 3 yrs or more don’t worry about obtaining any more letters. For work exp which you cannot provide letters highlight them in personal history section of your application

Thanks for the swift response @bimale4bipeople

So does that mean that I should go ahead and declare them on my EE profile and won’t need to provide letters (with roles and responsibilities) post ITA? Thanks

You can declare the 4 yrs work experience. Once you get the invite you have to provide details about your personal activities in the last 10 yrs. So the rest of 2 yrs work can be mentioned there...

Hi All,

I have about 11 years experience in IT...I am applying through Express Entry but am unable to get hold of one of the employer where I worked 7 years ago....So I was thinking maybe I should only show 7 years experience(maximum FSW points) or is it better to show more experience even though no extra points for work over 7 years?

You get max points for 3 years of work experience gained within the last 10 yrs....
You need to arranage the letter of refernce for these 3 yrs of work experience rest of work experience can be shown in personal history section and you do not need to show any documentation for it...
