Job Offer........
Pre-Assessed..
Currently, I am creating profile for Express entry. I possess 5 years of foreign work experience, NOC is throughout same but i have work experience in below manner:-

Company 1 :- 2.6 years
Job Search :- 8 months (Gap between two companies)
Company 2 :- 2.5 years

I have doubt in filling answers for below question in eligibility assessment

"In the last 10 years, how many years of skilled work experience do you have? It must have been continuous, paid, full-time (or an equal amount in part-time), and in only one occupation."

Will they consider my full work experience? Or my gap in between two companies will impact? I was actually searching job at that time.
Thanks in advance.

I know that CIC has removed the requirement for "continuous" Canadian experience yesterday. Not sure about foreign work exp. though.

"As of May 30, 2015, all valid Canadian work experience will be recognized under the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) of Express Entry as CIC is removing the requirement that Canadian work experience be continuous. As a result, foreign nationals with Canadian work experience could see an increase in their CRS points."

So what should be my take?

If I mention Job search as I was doing so, will it impact? Will they consider my 5 year exp?

The answer has 3 parts assuming you are applying as an FSW candidate from outside Canada. If not, stop reading and ignore the rest. :-[

1. FSW point scale http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/resources/tools/perm/econ/fsw/work.asp

Under this you will get 13 points on 100 for experience between 4 and 5 years.

2. EE Skills Transferability scale http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/department/mi/express-entry.asp (search for "Foreign work experience")

Under this, your work experience can be combined with language proficiency and/or Canadian work experience to net you a maximum of 50 points on 1200 scale depending on the nature of your experience. The maximum points are netted when applicant has 3 years of work experience and those years can be across multiple jobs but within the last 10 years, in the same NOC and full time paid employment.

3. EE - Minimum work experience requirement http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/resources/tools/perm/econ/fsw/minimum.asp

Under this, you will qulaify easily because this requires demonstration of only 1 year of continuous full-time paid employment over the last 10 years.

Having said all that, I recommend that you input your work experience as 4 years and 11 months as of now (which is the truth) and ensure that your primary NOC and the NOC for these jobs is the same (which I guess is also the truth). As for the 8 months gap, be honest and show it as Unemployed. Misrepresentation is a big offence and you don't want to attract that attention from CIC.

As I've explained above, you will still get the highest points everywhere else except on the 67 scale (where you will get the second highest points - 13) but there the highest score (15) will accrue only after 6 years of experience (continuous or otherwise; and over same/multiple NOCs provided they are 0,A or B) over the last 10 years.

Hope this helps. All the best!

Hi,
Regarding this FSW tool, I needed to ask the points given for those having more than 3 but less than 4 years of experience bcoz that is not given in the table of points.

Assume it is 11 points to be on the safer side of things.

My first post here please be kind.
I do not want to create a new thread to ask the same question so i will do it here , sorry OP.
I have exactly 11 months and 20 days of continuously working on this one job. However it's not 1 year .. but i cover the hours requirement of 1650 hours.
Also in the last 10 years i worked in hotel businesses and since its a seasonal job there are gaps between.I have some years in this but never a full one continue-sly and with one employer.
Do i even have a shot at this guys? Or i have to go with my wife since she have more than 1 year full time.
Thank you to whoever willing to take a minute to answer my question.

You won't be eligible if you do not have at least 1 year AND 1560 hours (during that 1 year/52 weeks) of continuous NOC 0/A/B work experience within the last 10 years. If you've never had that, you won't be eligible.

Proceed with your spouse as PA. All the best!

Best thing to do would be to accept the ITA only when you know you deserve the points and can prove it.

Hi,

I was searching other threads to clarify my doubt about work experience. But I could not find any solution. My problem is :

I am a ship's engineer - NOC 2274. By nature my job is contractual as it is not possible to stay on ship for long time. So I work 4 months on board ship and stay 3 to 5 months in vacation. I get paid only when I am on board though leave pay is included with that. I have about 8 years experience but not with same employer. For example, I worked 3 years with company A (4 contracts -each approximately 5 months) , 6 months for company B(One contract of 6 months), again 2.5 years for company C (4 contracts- each approximately 4 months)and so on. As my job is not continuous, am I actually eligible to apply as FSW under EE even though I worked with some employer for more than one year (but not continuous)? If I am eligible, how should I present my employment history? It should be only the time spent on board ship or the calendar year with the company? If any of you can clarify the doubt, that will be a great help.

Thanks.

Hi Asivaad,

I have a big concern in regards to my current job documents I am working on in Canada. I got ITA under the FSW category and while I am going to check the upload docs page, its asking me for the "OFFER OF EMPLOYMENT", the issue is: in my express entry profile (when I created it), I have stated my current work as NOC 2172 (DATA ANALYST) as that was the position I was hired by my company initially. Then I was offered a permanent position and my job title was changed to SYSTEMS ANALYST (2171), however throughout these years, my duties, roles have remain the same as data Analyst and they fall under the 2172 category.

While on the offer of employment, my company provided me, the title is "SYSTEMS ANALYST", I am really confused and scared now on what to do? what would be the best way to tackle this? Do you think if my manager/director writes a letter of explanation with the OFFER LETTER, saying that since the duties have been the same on both contract and permanent position, my work experience should be counted under 2172, as that is the appropriate category to define my current job role? or you think it can lead to application rejection? as based on the duties, 2172 is the right place for me

any suggestions on this would help a great deal at the moment, thanks in advance!!
