Likely around 18 months for a hearing. You won't qualify for a work permit until after your preliminary hearing. Probably 2-3 years before there's a decision in the case.

18-24 months ll take for your hearing now a days. But when you submit your asylum case and do your medical then you can apply for work permit . You ll get work permit within 3-4 months.

What's the process of getting work permit? First, should find employer and job then, able to apply for work permit?

Just want to clarify that you only qualify for a work permit I you don't have savings and would otherwise begin welfare payments. Not all asylum seekers qualify for work permits. They may have become more lenient with the long waiting period but others who waited 1+ years for a hearing just a year or so ago were refused a work permit because hey had their own savings.

In general asylum seekers are granted work permits so they stop receiving welfare because it saves the province money.

Thank you so much for the information.
I want little more information. If a asylum seekers will get work permit and then his case is acceptable. Will he still continue his job?
&
If result is unfavorable then, Will he depart to his country? & Work permit is finished?

Yes if you are denied asylum you will be asked to leave the country unless you appeal. I would focus on seeing if you can actually get a TRV because that will be a huge obstacle for your family.

I got my first hearing date after three month of applying. But it has been. Cancelled and after that I got my hearing date again after 8 month mean all together it took 11 month and been accepted .

When you apply for asylum and they accept you as a refugee claimant then you would go online and apply work permit for two years free of cost and then. You would get medical request that would be also free of cost it take three month and you could get your work permit and you can apply job or go for welfare . Like 5 to 6 hundreds some thing , but my advice do job that would be plus point and regarding deportation they would take signature from you at the day of refugee claimant , but you can apply for the appeal .

That’s my personal experience

I can't understand one thing. Please explain again about deportation. If asylum seekers get refuse he has to deport immediately even he has work permit of 2years?

When you claim asylum one of the documents you sign is a removal order. If your claim is denied, the removal order comes into effect. If you don’t leave within 30 days, it becomes a deportation order (unless it is temporarily stayed). Having a work permit makes no difference once you have a negative decision. The deportation order superceeds the work permit.

Do you mean after an asylum claim is denied? If so, you should assume it won't be possible to get a study permit, work permit or visitor visa approved after a refused asylum claim.
