Friends, could some one tell,How long it will take to process parents' PR?
To sponsor the parents, one has to live in Canada for 3 years or it's just 3 income tax filled
To sponsor for your parents, you must meet 2 initial conditions
1/ To be selected in the lucky draw, which happens at the beginning of each year (for now, it is Jan 2)
2/ To be able to meet the income requirement for the 3 consecutive years before the application. For example, if you plan to apply for your parents next year, the 2019 you must meet the income requirement for your family size, in 2016-2017-2018. The total income must be met is determined by IRCC and can be found on their website. You must have the Notice of Assessment from CRA to prove your income which mean, you must file your tax returns in all these years. The family size is determined at the time of the application but basically, it is You (sponsor) + your spouse (could be co-sponsor) + your children (if any and dependent) + your mom (if there be) + your dad (if there be) + your siblings (if there be, under 21 and dependent)

It depends on many factors: your application is approved, more documentation needed, your parents pass the medical exam, police clearance, etc...

My sponsorship approval is still IP from May 31.. I don't know where goes wrong. I called several times but they just ask me to wait and no additional information required so far. What should I do now?

I called CIC today and I was told they received my application and it's in their system ( the agent made a search through my name) I was told CIC
sent me an email on JUne 20 but I said I haven't received anything it turned out that they sent it to the wrong email ( how can it be they sent me 3 emails before one invitation and 2 reminders), The agent sent me the web form to correct my email and said he requested them to send me the email by email so I should wait. I am also told that my application is on progressive status ( maybe they need something from me).

I have sent everything they need and when I asked if I have UCI in their system I was told no maybe because it's pending. I dont know yet
what is missing, I guess I have to wait for the mail to come( hopefully soon) so I can submit it right away.

The agent cannot tell me what is the email all about...

Thanks for sharing the update, I would say its good that you called IRCC call centre.
Its crazy that the emails were sent to wrong email address.

Same situation here. I contacted call center, I was told ircc is still verifying my sponsorship eligibility and it won't be long. But 2 weeks later, I still need to wait and wait...

Hello Everyone,

1). I am planning to enter the draw in 2019. Mine and my husband's income for last 2 years meet the requirements, this year would also meet it. But as we all know we will file the tax in March 2019, but i'll enter the dram in January. So in the draw do they ask for the income, if so, can i just put the rough income there? Cos later if i am lucky enough to get selected, by then i'll have the NOAs for 2018 too.

2). I had another doubt, once you get approved as a sponsor, still you need to meet the income requirements until the parents become PR. Or is there any exception in that, cos i might go for maternity leave which would affect my income.

3). This could be little stupid, but is there any faster option for parents with only child. My parents are 62-63, I am their only child. So anything i could do if i don't get selected in lottery.

I appreciate your time and effort to help people in this forum.

Thank you :)

In my case, when my parents name came up in the lucky draw, I submitted their application after filing the income tax return for 2017. The result of draw was declared between March 19 - 21, 2018 and the deadline for submitting the application was May 25, 2018. Considering I had filed my taxes in February 2018, i had a lot of time to get the NOA from CRA. I will suggest you to do the same.

In case you are not able to file your taxes by the time lottery results are declared, you will also have an option to share your SIN# so that IRCC officer could retrieve your income information, but i believe it slows the processing of application. Also, in that case you will be required to fill form IMM 5516

The sponsor has to maintain the required income till the Parents land in Canada as permanent resident. But please note that the EI benefit you will get during maternity leave will be considered as an income.

Its a valid question, I do understand your situation. Unfortunately the only option left (in case your parents's name doesn't come up in the lottery) is to apply for a super-visa, perhaps it's not going to match what a permanent residency offers.

Good Luck!

using your UCI to log in:https://services3.cic.gc.ca/ecas/security.do;
if CIC needs additional documents, you will see from here. good luck.
