So yesterday I received my GCMS notes. Today my boss received an email from immigration asking whether the employment letter I provided is legit and if I still work for the company. Sharing with you:

From: xxxx [mailto:xxxxx@cic.gc.ca]
Sent: May 8, 2018 12:07 PM
To: 'xxxxx'
Subject: Immigration Validation/Verification Process: Employment Reference Letter for Ms. xxxx

Good day,

I am an immigration officer employed with Immigration, Refugee and Citizenship Canada (IRCC). This e-mail is being sent to you, as per the above stated individual, Ms. xxxxxx, documentary submissions to our department in support of her application. The applicant, xxxxxx, has submitted an employment reference letter from [company name and date]. The letter has been signed by you, where you are stated as holding the position of Director (see attached).

As part of our validation and verification process, I would request that you indicate whether the attached reference letter in question is in fact authentic and whether the information contained within is accurate as it pertains to the employment of the applicant. In addition, please respond to the following questions in order to provide further clarification regarding the employment of the applicant:

-Does the position held by the applicant (my job title) involve any work related travel? If so, please identify any travel that occurred “outside” of Canada for a duration of a week or more;

-Is the applicant, Ms. xxxxx, still employed with your company? If not, please indicate when the last day of employment for the applicant was and the reason for the applicant no longer being employed with you;

-What was the location of the applicants employment? Is the location that which is stated on the reference letter in question (company's address)?

Your cooperation in this validation and verification process would be greatly appreciated. Should you require any additional information or clarification, please contact me via the information indicated below.

Thank you for your time and assistance in this matter.

Sincerely,

xxxxxxxxxx

Hi,

Thanks for sharing this ! I did not know they contact the employer and confirm these things.

I just wanted to know how frequent is this? I mean is it something like 8/10 people get this confirmation email? In this case, I have to tell my employer in advance so that she keeps an eye out for this email.

Thanks in advance !

I don't know my exact timeline. But my AOR is 14th dec, medical was passed in mid Jan along with ADR. I submitted my ADR (FBI doc) on feb 12th. Since then, the status has been the same 'Still reviewing'.
My case is similar to yours. Aor Jan 16. Adr: feb1. I submitted the FBI pcc on feb 16. After that it's same "still being reviewed". Last Gcms notes show that they have touched the file till first week of April after submitting adr.

You're very welcome, pleasure to be useful. I learn a lot with this forum and the least I can do is give back as much as possible.

I've been reading a lot about it after it happened, also wanted to know whether it's common.

What others said in the forum is that immigration does random checks (probably for quality purposes), so they contact 1/10 employers to verify the information provided; the other case scenario is if they're not satisfied and/or not sure whether the company exists or you really worked for them.

Funny cause on my GCMS notes there's a comment from an agent saying that web search proved the company exists and the letter of employment I provided seems compliant. I guess I was selected as one of the random cases.
