Concerning OHIP,, I know once you apply for OHIP there is a 3 month waiting period, I am told that Service Ontario will determine what the date is for the waiting period..

I am curious as to what exactly this means
You must also be physically present in Ontario for 153 days of the first 183 days after the day you apply for OHIP.

Remain in Ontario for 5 of the first 6 months after you apply.

Bring your DM and AIP letters. With just AIP, they may only start a temp account.

Also, make sure Barrie is a "full service" Service Ontario location. Only "full service" locations can open new OHIP accounts. We encountered an office that does DL's, vehicle registrations, etc. We were directed to another local office that was "full service". I think you can call ahead to ask...

Hello Guys, I am September 2016 applicant. I didn't receive SA or AIP yet. Permanent Residence Application Status was all the time application received until this morning I seen the status changed to in process. It does mean that we passed the approval of sponsorship and now they are working to finalize the residency ? I will really appreciate if they are someone that had the same situation than me to tell me how log does it took to get decision made.
Thanks in advance
We have the same issue for our application. Sponsor side now shows "Application Received", but was "In Progress" for months before. We called the phone number to contact IRCC, and the automated message says that the security check is in progress for applicant side, but that they haven't actually started anything on the sponsor side yet. We applied December 2nd, 2016. Ordered our notes a week or so ago, so hopefully we'll find out what's going on soon!

How do you order notes and how many details does it give you about the application?

https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/corporate/transparency/access-information-privacy/requests-information-act.html

You want to make a request under the Privacy act. Have the sponsor "make" the request. And the PA fills out and signs the IMM 5744 consent for CIC to release the personal info to the sponsor. That way, it's free.

It is the case notes from the computer database that CIC uses for everything. GCMS is used by CIC and CBSA.

Ok perfect. And for OHIP, you must reside in Ontario. It's only the first couple months, man. And, you can go home for a bit if you wish. It's the first 6 months only. So, you can still go home for 30 days in that period.

Think of it this way: In the US, major health events cost muchos deniro. In Ontario, they cost nothing. <mic drop>

You will need to wait 3 months from when ServiceOntario starts the clock for you. But the second clock is 6 months. They want you to remain in Ontario (and therefore, contributing to the economy) for 5 of the first 6 months. You can leave immediately, if you wanted. But you can only be gone a month within the first 6. After that, I think you can be out of province for up to 6 months at a time without problems. But don't quote me on that number.

The bigger questions is, do you plan to drive or fly down?

I have a Passport Card, not the book.. on the card you can only enter America by Land,, if you want to Fly you need the PP Book..
Ok I can deal with that,, after interview I need to go see my dad in Ohio and maybe try and bring some of our stuff back from storage,, I wont even be gone 2 weeks

Should they just give it to you immediately? Then you decide to move to another province before that 3 months? With an OWP and an employer letter, they will waive some or all of the wait... That's about proving where you reside...

Hello @profiler ,

I went to the MP office last Tuesday and today I received an email from the MP office.

"CC confirmed that Criminality and Security assessments are in progress on the file. The Eligibility review was started on March 1st and an update on the Eligibility is expected at some point this month. They mentioned the Eligibility assessment includes review of a non-accompanying child. "

Can you help me to understand this..?
ECAS (In Process / In Process)

Thanks in advance!
