Hello Everyone, I have quick question: Me and my wife have been scheduled for the citizenship test on the 15th of may at the Scarborough location and we have a 1 year old for whom we are struggling to find any baby sitters. My question is can we take in our 1 year old to the test center for the test and interview?
Thanks A Lot!!
Simple answer is no... Sorry. They advise in the letter itself not to bring children. I hope you will be able to find a sitter.
If not, maybe try to reschedule one person for a different date that one of you can stay home with the baby.

As someone already replied, you cannot take children with you.

I'm looking at the spreadsheet and I'm not sure if it's because of the new rules or people just not using this forum.... But look at the amount of people that applied in September 2017 (not that much), compering to October 2017! And I made myself sad, because a lot of those people applying in October (being in Canada shorter, but eligible under the new rule) have their Citizenship already :(
When we arrived to Canada, it was still the 3 year requirement... Then it changed to 4, so we had to wait... And then it changed again to 3 (oh how annoying it was for a lot of people...). Sorry for the vent, but I want my Canadian passport already!

Do you take your 1 year old to important meetings at work? Same concept...its common sense.

Do you/your wife have "family friends" where you can ask them to watch your child for that day? Did you ask in your neighborhood ..there could be stay-home mothers running day cares. You should be able to figure something out.

About 30% of Oct applicants have their citizenship already, but 99% of them were processed by "decent" offices, such as Ottawa, Calgary, Edmonton, ...if you were processed by one of theses offices you would've become a citizen a while ago..

There is a couple OCT applicants from Toronto who is being processed in Mississauga and they already have their citizenship I guess those of us being Scarborough is just luck out all we could do is wait.

I know that, and this is why I feel disappointed... Why oh why our file ended up in Scarborough?! We live in Mississauga and if it was processed by CPC in Mississauga, we would probably have the citizenship already like other people...

You live in Mississauga well it’s extra hard for you if you only new Scarborough was so slow when you did your test you could of asked them to transfer your file to Mississauga.

If you live in Mississauga and your application is now stuck with Scarborough thats the most unlucky situation.. as for most of us, we live in Scarborough or Markham areas so our applications are assigned to Scarborough office by default. We dont have any option other than waiting.

It'd be worth a phone call to find out what the deal is, but it really is a bit of a crap shoot. I mean, there are plenty of September applicants waiting for oath in Mississauga as well, so one place or the other, you may still be waiting. Sucks not having enough info!

If I knew we could ask to transfer the file to Mississauga at the interview, believe me, I would do it straight away ;)
There is someone who asked MP for help and their file is send to Mississauga. I'm waiting to see if that help speed things up for that applicant and then I might do the same thing...
And yes, we were very unlucky to get Scarborough as CPC. It took us an hour to drive for the test as we live on the further end of Mississauga.

It certainly can't hurt to pose the question to your MP. Maybe you'll even find out there is a reason it's in Scarborough after all.

I phoned them already. The person on the phone can't really tell you anything else than what you see online yourself.
I was hoping we could get the ceremony scheduled for Saturday. I just found out there is no fax number for Scarborough and the only way to contact them is via mail (and no guarantee that they will read it any time soon). And also, they said that I shouldn't be really using the Web Form as my application is not overdue, so it doesn't meet criteria to use the Web Form.

Usually the MP is helping only in hard cases or overdue applications. I was surprised to hear they are getting involved with someone else application from September (not 100% sure, but it wasn't late one). I want to see if that helped the person or not. In some cases, if they are transferring files to other CPC it takes months and delays the process even further.
