Goodevening.

I think I made a critical mistake on my Schedule A.
Just realized it yesterday and I am so worried right now.

d) been refused refugee status, an immigrant or
permanent resident visa (including a
Certificat desélection du Québec
(CSQ) or application to the
Provincial Nominee Program) or visitor or temporary
resident visa, to Canada or any other country

I accidentally ticked the No box, instead of the yes.

I actually forgot that I was refused TRV visa before cause after that refusal I reapplied right away and get approved and got my Multiple entry visa.

What to do? We already sent my schedule A to the CIC like 2weeks ago.
Is this serious? Anyone who experience same mistake like this? Pls help. I am so worried right now.

I got my interview on July after I did my medical.. I do not think you can speed up your process, just wait..and do everything the ask you...I've been waiting for a year already and the last update was MArch 01 when they request my Criminal Record based on Fingerprints
Good Luck!
I am not sure either. I have read some cases on the forum where people get done in 6 months . I read case of Berty who got pr in March 2017 applied in October 2016 Cbsa was involved. That’s why I asked you . There were some who get lucky from this.
Hope we all get ours soon it’s really stressing.

I had the exact same thing happen! I am a February 2017 applicant and recently got AIP on February 28th 2018. Now my ECAS states that they started processing my application February 28th 2018 too! It's very strange IMO, but I'm just going to think of it as a good sign. My ECAS status read 'Application Received' for the longest time and now says 'In Process' so any step forward is a positive for me.
You’re right! I should keep positive too! I guess after so long we start to get a little crazy LOL I will call today for more updates since I have no access to MyCIC! I don’t think in my case will be AIP because they just requested the CSQ (a requirement only for applicants in Quebec), but who knows!

Thanks a lot for sharing your experience!

I've seen on the forum that cbsa also called someone else and I really don' know why. I am also out of status and sent my application few weeks ago and now am scared they might call me also. Do y'all think it's a new thing they are doing with persons who are out of status?
We applied PR August for my wife who has overstayed visitor record by a couple of years. Never heard anything yet from the CBSA so that's 7 months into the process but always worried of course especially when you read stuff on the forum. Not sure it's a new tactic as there is always a risk if you overstay that the CBSA will become involved, people say you must get on their radar for some reason like maybe someone has reported the overstay, who knows. Usually an active sponsorship app gives people protection from removal even when the CBSA become involved.

Hello everyone ,

Please leave comments and your advices. I have been called by Cbsa yesterday because I was out of status since March 2017 and applied for inland spousal file in November 2017 and I met my husband in November 2015.
Cbsa gave me I year exclusion order for 1 year. I don’t know what will happen next they told me to call them every 2 week and report them. :(
I guess this is just a new protocol. I’m also out of status but nobody ever called me about it (I applied inland on March 2017) - they probably gave you 12 months because that’s the timeline of the process. I’m sure they wouldn’t kick you out of Canada if it takes a little longer!

Maybe this is even better since they are aware of your situation - it could mean they will try to make it faster!

Keep positive! Good luck!

Could just depend on a lot of things, just a simple case that someone has been reported so they have to act, maybe even what province/city you live in they might be too busy to chase simple overstay cases who have PR apps in process, and not all CBSA are equal some more lenient than others.

One fact is for sure that by applying for PR whilst out of status you are alerting the immigration authorities of that fact, but seems most people that find themselves in this situation end up wtih a successful outcome.

You are getting AIP, hence After the request of CSQ. And you are at the final lap in your application, you should have SA, AIP and DM anytime soon.

Do you know if there is a reason you got the phone interview as opposed to the office interview or is it random? One person mentioned that it might be location-based (ie if you're not near a landing office you get a phone interview) but I've not seen anything to confirm this
Etobicoke is the IRCC office I have to deal with. I know getting an in-person interview could take between 8-10 weeks. So to try to cut the backlog they are doing phone interviews for Etobicoke. I don't know if anyone from other provinces are seeing something similar from their big metros.

Yes, unlike your PR card, your OWP is linked to your passport number. Try calling them and ask for their suggestions.

It doesn't really matter because I had the same problem and I ticked no, because I eventually reapplied and got the TRV. So don't be worried.

I don' think your passport number will change in a case of a renewal.

I renewed my passport after receiving the OWP too but I had no problem using the OWP with old passport number and renewed passport at the same time. You just need to get eTA for your new passport. Maybe only once out of several times, the immigration officer asked me to show him the old passport, but that was only because my last name on OWP was also different from the new passport (I changed my last name to my husband’s when I renewed my passport).
