Hi, I just got my pre arrival service today under AINP. As the time may vary, do we have any average time for next update?

Hi @hngdev can you please share your detailed timeline/VO etc so we can help you? (Check my signature for what a timeline looks like). It allows other members to understand - and if they have a similar timeline or VO they can help with their experience.

My application received on July 4th, started processing on August 25th, 2018.
I started my application in Calgary, AB.
P/s: sorry for the late reply.

Hi everyone,

I'm sponsoring my two year old son. He is here with me in Canada as a visitor.

Our VO is in Manila, and we received or prearrival letter Dec 7, 2017. And we have not heard anything from them since then.

Hearing others get their PPR in 1-2 months, I feel like our application is taking forever, especially since there is no interview or background check to be done.

Hi @Ab80s - dont let that worry you. Many people hit the 3 month mark or more.

In our case, we got pre arrival on Jan 9th and PPR on March 5. On the visa stamped in his passport it said it was issued on Feb 28th. So it could be that the file is just sitting in a pile waiting to be processed. All the best and keep us updated!

@permafrost_can Hi , I was wondering if I could use my ready for visa email (ppr email) to access prearrival services since a link on the letter took me to prearrival services or I should wait to get my passport back and use the COPR to access the services

You don't need the pre-arrival email. Pre-arrival services will only request your UCI number, which you already have from other emails you have received from IRCC. I can recommend pre-arrival services based on where you are moving and your specific interests. It is recommended by IRCC to avail of more than one pre-arrival service as they are all different.

Thanks for replying. It is just that most of the prearrival services have a link where you have to upload proof that you have actually gotten your PR application approved before they can process your application for service

At ours we just require the UCI number, because that is the only mandatory requirement that IRCC imposes on us. They may require the upload to make sure the UCI number is accurate and that it belongs to you, but those security controls can also be done afterwards (we do them afterwards).

Hey!
First of all I want to thank you so much for all of your input. I was hoping to ask you a question. My cousin and I both received the Pre arrival services letter for our husbands today!

Both of us are sponsoring our spouses from Kosovo, and we both live in Alberta.
The Background A Declaration along with the medical exams where all submitted and passed by the end of October. This is our first update since October.

my concern is that on my GCKey, it still says that my background check has not started yet. Again, same for my cousin.
Do they always update this status? If so does that mean that they need to complete the background check prior to us receiving the PPR? or is it a possibility that they already completed the BGC and just have nor updated the status?

Tung!

Sometimes the background check continues all the way until the second they issue the PPR. I have seen it mostly for people who have a military background (as their own profession or that of a close relative), or those who are from one country but work in another. In your case, I don't want to speculate as I am not an expert on this, but it may be because Kosovo experienced unrest until relatively recently. I know it's been 10 years since Kosovar independence, but with background checks and this process in general, who knows, maybe it still matters somehow.

In theory yes, they do update that status regularly, but again with the delays it may also be that the background check is done but because of the backlog they haven't had a chance to update it yet.

The fact that you got pre-arrival services letters is a good sign though. These services are free because they are paid by IRCC, and I want to think they wouldn't spend money on someone they are not close to, or almost certain to approve. Good luck!!
