Hi cldinha,
We can follow each other’s time I guess I sent in November . Am in a same situation. It’s been 4 months no update on work permit. I think we have to wait for AIP . Because I have seen people applied in nov got approved work permit .
Hi... yes for sure! Yes we won’t get our OWP until we get our AIP my representative contact CIC and that’s what they said!! Here is the answer they gave:
“As of December 22, 2014, open work permits may be issued to eligible applicants under the spouse or common-law partner in Canada class at an earlier stage in processing if they meet certain criteria. We verified the information on file. However, it has been determined that you do not meet the eligibility criteria.
Your application for the open work permit remains valid and will be processed once your sponsorship application is approved in principle.”

The only thing is that I’m not sure how long does it take!! I feel that is a bit of waste of money cause some people told me that it takes around of 10 month to get the AIP and the PR takes 12 so is just a 2 month difference! :/

Hi cldinha,

Yes I agree with you. The only thing I wish is we get our AIP soon it’s really stressful without work permit. The posts I have read it says AIP gets approved almost after 9-10 months . long way to go . I also applied for TRP my representative suggested me that to bring the status back we should apply that. But till now I have not got any update on that either.it takes 4-6 months but it’s been 4 months I hope they send something . A ray of hope.:(

It is generally be about 3 or 4 months after receiving your application, so maybe later this month?

Hey guys, I’m filling the CSQ forms and I’m confused about 2 options (English/french barriers ).

My girlfriend and I are doing the process as common law partners! Our lawyer (who’s is American and not french speaker) put on our forms that we are “Partenaire conjugale ou partenaire conjugal”, but we believe that the correct marital status would be “Conjoint de fait, conjointe de fait”. We have been googling the differences between those and it seems like a partenaire conjugale would be a couple that don’t actually live together which we do!

I just would like to double check with you guys since you all are so kind and have been helping us so much.

Would be very sad to have the forms returned so close to the end of our process.

Thanks in advance!

I received mine 2-3 days after approval. You can get your SIN right away - it took me a total of 15 min with waiting time.
Thanks! You were right. I got it already in my mail. It took 3 days. When you went to get your SIN did you need anything else apart con your passport and visa?

My representative is not very knowledgeable :/... if I knew about the TRP or the restoration of status I would have applied for that. My representative is not very knowledgeable and is ridiculous the amount of money I paid him! Apparently he has been doing this for 10 years and seems like I know more than him... is very frustrating.

Well good luck to you, and if you could please let me know if you get anything on your TRP I would like to know!!

Thank you for sharing your progress very much appreciated!
