Just called CIC..... finally after all this time I actually spoke to a live person. She was very, very, polite and helpful. I asked her questions regarding my application process and what happens after AIP. She went on telling me that they are currently doing my background check for any criminal records and so forth. I asked when she thinks that I will hear back from CIC and she told me by summer this year :(.

Why so long? Did anyone had to wait this long after receiving AIP?
Whats you timeline? Has it been 12 months?

We have the same thing happened, recently 'we do not need more documents' changed to this message...
I called CIC today, and they told me they didnt request anything! and that they have everything they need already.

Strange!

Same thing happened to me.

I was waiting for the message and never got any for 1 week.
I called CIC, just reached automatic message saying they requested
additional documents last month.
So I sent IRCC from asking if it was just technical issues like the one that happened to many of us (as prob you know, we didn’t get any correspondence even though we were supposed to). Not reply back yet.

Then yesterday I got a “eligibility pass” message on my CIC account
and DM on Ecas.

Status on my account has been changed, no more additional documents required, but still everything are in process.

It’s always nice to call CIC but you still can be patient a bit what’s gonna happen.

Hi abcdmud,

My application was received on April 25, 2017. Its will be 12 months this April, but I received AIP last week so I was hoping I will get DM soon.

Please advice. Thank you!

I don't think you will never get a PPR on the Spousal Sponsorship in-land Application, our interview is scheduled to the next 21th and we have already received the COPR with instructions of what to do next. During the phone interview we must sign the COPR and email it back to the CIC office.
Oh I thought it applies for both Inland and Outland. Thank you for your clarification!

Hi! You should have it soon! I got AIP and DM all in 1 week. So you are not far behind. You are almost done :)

Hi Melissaj,

I would like to have your advice and everyone else most welcome to comment.
As I am going through same situation out of status and sent file in November 2017. And it’s been more than 4 months I have sent my work permit file along with PR. I tried to call cic but didn’t get to talk with live agent. What’s the best thing to do shall I just wait until I get AIP or shall I call cic and find out about work permit.
Till now I got AOR and request for schedule A.
Thanks in advance

jeet07,

I was told and I also read that as long as you're out of status you have to wait for AIP to have your work permit approved. I received my work permit before I received my AIP, but it was only a matter of a short time. I guess they communicate and my OWP was mailed out before I received AIP, I am really not sure.

The CIC system really don't work the same for everyone but I can only tell you what I am going through right now and share what I hear from my representative. Just take it as guidance but be open for other advice, you never know which one will help.

Hi sm43226,

I applied for OWP with my spousal sponsorship application. At that time I was very much out of status for almost 5 years.
My representative told me that I will only be given an OWP when I get AIP, however, I received OWP a couple of weeks before I received AIP. My only assumption is that they talk...lol!
Hi melissaj,

As I’m on the same situation as you, I was wondering how long did it take for you to get your OWP?
I applied on September 19 and my status had expired on August 5!!
Unfortunately my representative made me believe that I was getting my WP in 4 month but then he changed and told me that it might take from 5 to 7 month!! Just wanna have an idea of my waiting time!

Thank you so much in advance!!!

Hi cldinha,
We can follow each other’s time I guess I sent in November . Am in a same situation. It’s been 4 months no update on work permit. I think we have to wait for AIP . Because I have seen people applied in nov got approved work permit .
