Can anyone reply to this?
Some people on the forum say you should notify IRCC, some say it is not necessary. I can't find an IRCC policy document that says something one way or another.

It is unlikely that your file would make it to the point where you'll get a test invitation. But, should that (unexpectedly swiftly) happen then you would be invited to a test with a week or two, probably three, notice. If that clashes with your travel plans: being abroad seems like a valid reason to reschedule your appointment, so it should not pose much of a problem. It may cause a bit of a delay, as rescheduling sometimes seems to take some time. So, you could just wait and see (and if someone can keep an eye on your mail that'd be good, so you can reschedule without delay).

In theory you can use the web form to contact IRCC, but that does not seem to be a very fast way of contacting IRCC (response time seems to be around six weeks). If you know which office will be processing your application you can send them a letter to inform them you'll be out of the country. If you do not know which office is processing your application then you can call IRCC and ask the agent to add a note to your file.

If you're heading out soon then it seems unnecessary to bother, though. If your trip is weeks away from starting then notifying IRCC may make more sense.

Any Travel outside Canada for duration more than 2 weeks need to be notified to CIC.
Just would like to add:
CIC says: "While we process your application, only contact us if you:..." This does not imply that's it's a requirement for applicants to contact local offices or CIC if they're going away for more than 2 weeks.

The question and answers below tell us clearly that you are free to leave... However, the reason for contacting CIC in this context is to reduce the risk of the applicant missing an important correspondence (test/interview, FP request, request for more documents etc.), because these requests are time/date sensitive. In other words, if you're going away for more than 2 weeks, you better be able to return at moment's notice.

Can I leave Canada after I mail my citizenship application?

Yes. You can leave Canada after we receive your application.

If you need to leave Canada and want to stay eligible for Canadian citizenship, you must:

  • make sure that you live in Canada long enough to keep your Permanent Resident (PR) status
  • be a permanent resident (when you apply)
  • not lose PR status before you take the Oath of Citizenship
  • bring your PR card with you when you leave Canada so you can return easily

As I interpret it, there is no compulsion to stay in Canada after applying for Citizenship, but inform CIC if leaving for more than 2 weeks.

She passed, and the officer has no problem with printed stamp translation instead of certified true copy. The officer also checked and tried to match all passport stamps to the calculator but lots of stamps are missing since my wife has nexus. He said he will request report from CBSA and it will take 2-3 days to finish, after DM expect oath letter in 4-6 weeks.
I am still waiting for test invitation, and I can imagine my interview might take even longer since I haخve more than 30 trips to us and other countries...
good luck man , could you please give us a hint on the test Questions ? really some war dates and locations are very hard to Remember , I been reading the book 6 times and listening to the audio copy on my Ipod everynight I had a nightmare of a Japanese aircraft falling on my head !

OK.
I have it on good authority that the War of 1812 did, in fact, begin during the year 1812.

I'm just sayin'. nudge nudge ;);) (say no more!)
