Hi Everyone! could somebody help me enlighten. my husband is the principal applicant.he applied for permanent residency, aug 2016.he checked his online account days ago.from medical review,it changed to medical passed.we are confused if his medical was the only passed,or is it including mine?he underwent medical examination last october 2017. i cannot proceed to medical because cic did not send me a medical request letter. good thing my husband saw that i do also have a UCI number, what helped iom manila to see that i have a medical request too.i underwent medical examination, nov 2017.i have a lung fibrosis so i waited for more 8weeks for the sputum culture.my husband cant remember if after weeks from his medical date his online account status changed to medical passed, or just after my sputum culture result came out.please could somebody help me answer this. thank you in advance.

I called CIC today. The lady told me that in December, 2017, was when the 12 months came into effect for applications. That my March application still fell under the 26 month obligation......ARE YOU KIDDING ME!!!!???? I WILL NOT and CANNOT wait another 14 months. There goes my marriage and life. I will be moving back home...I THOUGHT Canada would be my home, and prepared for that life. I was WRONG!! I see everyone else getting their PR and I'm supposed to be ok with another 14 months processing!!!??? I'm from the U.S, nothing on record, passed medicals (had to have 2 as they have expired AGAIN....so does this mean I start over and have to have another one because new one will expire too!!?? All of this is crap. I don't think I can take anymore. Good luck everyone else!

Don't get discouraged. They might say that your application still falls under the 26 month obligation but that's kind of like a worst case scenario. They say that just in case it takes longer but I guarantee it wont take nearly that long. The application process and waiting was the most nerve wrecking thing for us because I was sponsoring my American husband and most applicants got their PR in like 3-6 months but for us it took a whole year. We starting panicking and feeling hopeless but he finally got his PR. So don't get too worried. I'm sure it's not going to take another 14 months. It's just something they have to say.

We have been waiting almost 7 years to make this happen, one year in processing this time....+ the possibility of another 14 months. I won't do it. I'm done already. This was a cut and dried sort of thing. I have zero FBI or Police record of any kind...not even a traffic ticket ffs...I had 2 medicals...both which passed AND EXPIRED and COST ME MONEY.....I can't work, not applicable for a work permit. When will this stop!!!??? I'm going mad and this will have all been for nothing!

No...basically she told me ANYONE that applied before December 2017 falls under the 26 month thing. I've seem people on here that applied in August and September already get their PR...I'm March and this is still a nightmare. Should be something we could do but a phone call alone takes nearly a week to get through and several hours of hold time....this is a joke now!

Hi! I think I finally got my PPR...I'm American, so I just had to send a copy of my passport pages right? (let's hope so, because I sent that and the other stuff they asked for).
How long should I expect to wait between the PPR and receipt of COPR?

Also, when I use the online tool to check my status, it says decision made, but doesn't give me any hint of what the decision is. However, when I sign into GCKEY, it tells me they are still processing my background check. Is that normal? They sent me the PPR....don't they do that after they're done with the background check? Is my account messed up?
Yeah you only need to send a photocopy of your passport. We got COPR about a month after PPR but I've seen some people get it in as little as a week.

I know it's very frustrating and depressing but the immigration system honestly sucks. Until then we just have to put up with their crap. It's a long wait but it's not for nothing. I would rather wait to be with the person I love than to just give up. Giving up wont get you what you want but waiting, as hard as it is, is worth it. Calling CIC is a waste of time. They don't know anything and rarely ever give you any information we don't already know. The best thing to do, which helped us a lot, is to order your notes from the visa office processing your application. Sometimes we felt like they forgot about our application and it's just been sitting on their desk for months. As soon as we would order our notes they would finally be like oh shit and would start working on it again. I really do feel sometimes they forget to work on application and it just sits at the bottom of a pile. Order your notes and most likely you'll see faster progress. We applied in November 2016 and my husband finally got his PPR in November 2017 and his COPR in December 2017.

How do I order notes? From where and how much?
You can order them here online and I believe it's $5

https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/corporate/transparency/access-information-privacy/requests-information-act.html

You can only order the notes if you are a Canadian. So if you're not your spouse will have to order it on behalf of you and you'll have to fill out a consent form and attach it in the online form when it asks you to attach anything.

This is the consent form
