Hi there, are you a Canadian permanent resident or citizen? If you’re a premanent resident you’re required to stay in Canada during the entire process for spousal sponsorship, and if you left should return as soon as possible. If you’re a citizen then you’re fine and you don’t need to inform CIC.
Hi Canadian,
Are you sure about that? So,if I am sponsor,I am not able to visit my husband for 2 weeks because I am still PR?Is that 100% sure?

Hey! no they never responded unfortunately. I have a feeling it will be a long journey so I am booking a two week trip in April to go and visit my husband. I’m going to go surprise him LOL:p

Have a safe trip! I also left for a week in early February to spend time with my wife, I'm most likely going back in May for another week :)

Ahhh it's not even surprising that they didn't answer!

And that's amazing! Such a good idea, I was thinking of doing the same haha I hope you have a wonderful trip and it's something great to look forward to :D

You're welcome!
I used to buy my tickets on SearsTravel.ca, but they closed down :( Now I just search on Google Flights or directly from Lufthansa

Short visits are okay, but anything longer than a few weeks may be seen as having left Canada as a PR making you ineligible.

Exactly what @evdm said above, if you as sponsor are a PR and not a citizen you should remain in the country for the duration of the process. That’s why PRs living abroad can’t sponsor their spouses. I’ve read on this forum that PRs have taken very short trips and were okay.

Hi all,

November 2017 applicant here (read bio for application info):
Just a question, if the sponsor gets a message from the CIC saying the following:

" This message is being sent to confirm that the Application for Permanent Residence for your
relative(s) has been forwarded to the visa office in Vienna for further processing. "

Does that mean that this is AOR2, or will Vienna sent an extra email regarding the application.
The mail was sent by the CIC on Feb 6, 2018.

Thanks for any answers, and best of luck to all of you.

Have a look at this link for examples of each of the stages. The e-mail together with an ECAS update can be considered AOR2.
I'm approximately 2 months behind you, also from the Netherlands so curious to follow your progress if it's any indication for my own application. Of course, all applications are different. I'm hoping to get AOR1 within the next 2 weeks.

Hi guys, congrats to those getting their DM and PPR recently!

I had a couple of quick questions for those of you at these stages.

First of all, when you receive your PPR do you have an option to send it to either Vienna, or Ottawa?

Secondly, I believe I've seen before that those who don't require a visa to enter Canada can submit a scanned copy of their passport, not their real passport? Is that right? (I'm British so I believe this applies to me). We're travelling in the coming month, and don't want to delay the final process by not being able to send my passport!

Thanks for your input as always guys.

Just dropped off our application at the post office! Going to drink some beers right now and calm down. I'm shaking!!

FWIW Sponsoring my Serbian wife. I am a Canadian citizen. So I'm sure I'll be joining you guys in the Vienna thread sooner or later :)

Good luck to everyone throughout their processes
