Finally got my wife's PR card:
Landed: Sept 24th 2017
New photos requested: Dec 22nd 2017
New photos received by CIC: Jan 2nd 2018
Approved: Feb 2nd 2018
Card Received: Feb 13th 2018

My own photos were rejected for the 2nd time, so I sent a 3rd set of photos and they received it on Feb 12th, back to waiting again.
Today I called the IRCC Call Centre and they said they're processing the photo retakes received on January 3rd, which is odd since some people after that date already got their photos approved, so I hope this date is wrong and they'll get to my new photos soon.

Does anyone know what timeline applications are getting approved now? Is it taking 61 days for the approval( for applications without Photo Request)?

Thanks,
Brenna

Hi, I am doing landing this weekend. I am little confused about photo request? Does it apply to everyone? I think you submit a photo when you do landing as well, isn't it? Or they request photo only if it doesn't match the required specification?
Photos need to be resent if they ask you to do it.
1. If the photos in the COPR / sent by you at the time of PPR are more than 6 months old when they start processing the photos for your PR card.
2.For whatever reason, the scanning machine does not accept the photos for scanning and printing

Guys do they process PR cards by the date of landing or by the date on which application was received? We landed on 5th January, but the officer didn't let us submit the application during landing. So I called CIC and updated the address at the end of the January. Which date would be considered for processing?
They submit your application when you land even if you update the address later. That's why it is recommended to update the address ASAP after landing.

But the officer didn't submit the PR card application. She was not agreeing to take my friend's address. So I called and updated after 20 days of landing.

Anyways does it matter if I submit it before the 55-60 day mark? I noticed that people who landed on Dec 25 are getting their PR cards now. I landed on Jan 5. They would have my address when they pick them for processing.

Try to link your PR card application with your mycic account. If it goes through and you get an application number that means your appln is already submitted in which case you should update your address soon at least before that 55-61 day period. If your appln isn't submitted then you can take your time to submit it with a permanent address.
Those December landings getting PR card now are mostly photo resubmits.

I linked all our accounts. I was able to link mine and my kids on Jan 31, the very day I called. But my spouse application did not link however I tried on Jan 31. On February 14, there was an email to my spouse email ID mentioning that the PR card application has been submitted with the application number (R number) and UCI number. It was very strange to see the submission happening automatically after 14 days of calling. So all three applications are in before 50 day mark.

Photo resubmit means their application was taken for processing right. If photo isn't required, it would have been taken for print and be arriving next week

Update: Card was APPROVED today 09/02/2017.

Hope to have it by middle of next week.
PR card arrived to me in Calgary yesterday, 15/02/2018

It was approved on 09/02/2018.

Fast turnaround!

Best of luck everyone - your cards WILL turn up, if it hasn't arrived within a week of the estimated date do not hesitate to call or submit a CSE to enquire. If I had not called I would not have found out that they didn't have my Canadian address on file - despite me giving it to them at the airport on landing!

Good luck all and thanks to all those who helped me with my questions, notably @Hayhi87 as it was the post you made regarding your situation that prompted me to call ....only to discover my situation was the same as yous! If I had not made that call I would still be waiting.

Yes, if they ask for photo resubmit your application is being processed.
