@legalfalcon, Thank you very much for the explanation. Both my spouse and I had studied in the US for a couple of years. My another question is I ordered CSIS report for myself (the main applicant) through getcsms. Should I order another separate CSIS report for my spouse? HOw can we know if we are under enhanced SS?

Ordering CSIS report and CBSA report does not help much. If you still want to know if CSIS has concluded their involvement, you can go ahead an order it.

When was your R10 passed?

The 6 months processing time starts from the day your R10 is passed and not when you received the AoR.

For the US applicants, the processing take a little longer. So you may see processing times of 8-9 months, which is not unusual. This is because of the information sharing.

As regards the enhanced security, I do not see a reason why you would be, unless you fit in a typical case, which will depend on your country of origin, your past military and government service etc.

@legalfalcon, I need your help in filling up my eAPR application: Personal activities section.

Background: My Bachelors and Masters education was ended between 2000 and 2003 and my PhD started in 2004. Please note that this is way beyond the 10 years which needs to be detailed in the eAPR.

Question: Since my "Education" history has these dates and details, they are automatically transmitted to the "personal activities" section by CIC. Now, while filling the "personal activities" section I have taken care that there are no gaps for past 10 years (in fact, there are no gaps till 2004 PhD), after which a gap of couple of months appear at a couple of places as I was unemployed between Bachelors to Masters and from Masters to PhD. Can you let me know if I have to fill up these gaps even though they are more than 15 years back, or can I let these gaps stay in the "personal activities" section. As a side note, I have detailed out continuous stay for the past 10-12 years in the "address history" section.

Additional points: (1) When I check this section for completeness, it says its complete and does not complain. (2) I would have filled these details in if I would have remembered exactly which months I was in which country between my MSc and PhD, unemployed and studying.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Dear @legalfalcon
I just received my notes today. Pls help advise what does “client information review required” mentioned here mean
https://ibb.co/cym9Nw
Is there any concern or thing i should worry about? Thank you so much!

The eligibility takes place in 2 stages. First, an analyst will review the documents and make a recommendation. Then the officer will review the recommendation and make a final determination.

That you see is just the first stage. So no need to worry. “client information review required” simply means that the officer or an analyst needs to verify your work experience letters etc. and then your eligibility will finally change to passed.

My bank is not issuing average balance letter but they are issuing current balance certificate and bank statement of past six months. What do I do now?
You can get the account statement for the last 6 months and include it in your PoF and in your LoE explain that you are unable to get the 6 months average balance, so you are providing the count statement.

I am an international student in toronto and hating my life here.
I have a car with a 24K balance on it, it is becoming difficult selling it.
I wanna know if I move back to India after giving the car back what will be my future in traveling to Canada for even temporary purposes.

Secondly, in case i pay off the car, i will be leaving my college course in between to move back to India. Again what will be my future in Canada in that case. Will it effect my future Visa application to Canada?

The answer to you both your questions is no. If you are eligible for an immigration program, your previous loan and you dropping out of college will have no impact on your immigration.

Hi,
Received ADR to upload document for dependant, however the placeholder to upload in the application is under the principal applicant not the dependant supporting documents section !

is this correct?
Am I missing something?
Thanks

Yes, all ADRs are required for the PA, so all be under the PA documents like the LoE.

Hi @legalfalcon,
As my application for LMIA-exempted WP for postdoc is in progress, along with SOWP. my application is still in IP2. I have two questions:
  1. In last week, my SOWP status was IP2 too, they asked for some docs, I provided after they accepted, and reviewed. Now the BG status of SOWP is 'Not Applicable'. What does it indicates? It's NA3 or what? Next step would be PPR?
  2. As embassy will issue TRVs, how long that TRV validity would be? I mean within how much timeframe we have to land? I plan to land first, then I will call my family once I settle things. So, what would be grace period for her to land? Is it standard or varies upon discretion of VO?
Since 8-Oct, our cases are in process, ordered GCMS through you guys on 23-Nov. Let's see how it goes.

Thanks again!
There is no stage as NP IP etc. these are just misnomers created here at the Canada visa forum. Further just because your status on MyCIC shows a specific status does not mean that you have cleared or not cleared a stage of the EE. All EE application go through the following stages as mandated under the Immigration law:

R10
Criminality
Medicals
Eligibility
Security.

You can read on each stage
https://www.getgcms.com/blog/express-entry-application-processed/

2. To read on the landing and PPR, see -
https://www.getgcms.com/blog/guide-landing-settling-canada-permanent-resident/

Everything is explained

As regards the GCMS, I am only one of the founder, and don't run the daily operations. If you may have any concerns on the GCMS notes, you should contact GCMS team and they will happily help you.

As per IRCC you have to provide the following in a reference letter:

The following documents are mandatory for each work experience declared:

  • a reference or experience letter from the employer, which
    • should be an official document printed on company letterhead (must include the applicant’s name, the company’s contact information [address, telephone number and email address], and the name, title and signature of the immediate supervisor or personnel officer at the company),
    • should indicate all positions held while employed at the company and must include the following details: job title, duties and responsibilities, job status (if current job), dates worked for the company, number of work hours per week and annual salary plus benefits;
If your employer cannot provide a letter with all of the above, you have the following options:

1. Get a letter from a colleague with the above info, which can be on a blank paper, notarized and explain it in LoE.
2. Attach promotion letter, pay stubs for all promotions and explain in LoE.

Hi @legalfalcon what if there is no way to get the work ref letter? HR isn't issuimg one without managers approval, which I can't get cause I cannot tell them about this. I can't ask anyone I know in my new company (since two years) cause it will raise red flags and put me in a bad light if they knew I was pursuing the PR option. i have work ref letter for my previous company (4 years , 2011-2015, same noc).. What do I do? Please advise, thanks a lot in advance

There are a few things which you should know.

1. 6 months processing time - The 6 months processing time starts when the R10 of the completeness check is passed, and not when the application is submitted, or when the AoR is issued.

2. IP, IP2, NA - these are misnomers and in immigration law there is no such terminology. People started using it and correlate with the stage of an application, which is absolutely incorrect. There has been a growing trend of speculation where change of status on MyCIC has been attributed to eligibility being passed, etc. The whole NA, IP IP2 is speculation and has no bearing on determining which stage your application is at. While any change of status is a good sign, but merely relying on NA and IP is not the correct way.

Most applicants will find it irrelevant, as their applications will be processed and approved within the first 3-4 months. It is those who wait for more than 4 months, where things go crazy as they keep relying on NA, IP etc, and see no movement or progress. Many other are stuck on so called IP2, and the PPR never seems to come.

So put these speculative theories to rest. As per the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act, regulations and the ministeral instructions every application goes through the following stages:

R10 (Completeness check)
Medicals
Criminality
A11.2 Eligibility (The most important stage)
Security

To read more on each stage click here. While most applicants will not need to go this deep, but for those who have concerns about the application or it is taking too long should see which stage they are at. Also, the only way to determine the stage is by GCMS notes. To read more on GCMS notes, see the thread here.

3. Visa office - There has been a growing trend on people trying to find which VO their file is it. This is the biggest stupidity. It does not matter which VO your file is at. I started a thread on this issue which you can read. - https://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/threads/busting-myths-and-best-practices-for-app-tracking-monthly-whatsapp-ita-help-groups.522118/

4. RPRF - Any movement in the application is a good sign. However, just because you receive RPRF payment request, DOES NOT necessarily mean that your eligibility is passed. In some cases even when the eligibility is recommended passed, or has review required the RPRF request is sent.

No one can predict how long with it take. If you have cleared eligibility, the chances of rejection decrease considerably, and only the security is left, which differs for different applicants.
Thanks a lot Legal Falcon.. I only received the Golden PPR last Friday...:)

Thanks for detailed and informative response. Though, our cases are not EE but I, as principle applicant, applied for 1 year LMIA-exempted Work Permit for Postdoc, with dependent spouse as Open Work Permit and dependent child's visitor visa. Would such cases go through same phases as of EE?

Secondly, It's clear now from 2) that both SOWP and visitor visa expiry (tentative date to land) would be either 1 yr or as per PP's validity, means after I land, both wife and baby they can arrive within 1 year, right? Normally either tentative period to travel is of 3 months, or 6 months, i.e. they can land within 3 months or 6 months, and then on landing their actual validity counter starts. Nonetheless, let's see. As applications are prolonged due to unexpected delays at VO.

Thanks again!

Hi @legalfalcon ,

I have an inquiry, I'm an FSW-O applicant, here's my timeline:

25 Aug - AOR
08 Sep - Meds Passed/IP1
12 Sep - NA
22 Sep - IP2
01 Dec - NA (Here my BG status changed from "We are processing your background check. we will send you a message if we need more information." to "Not Applicable").
According to my GCMS notes, I went into Security Screening on Sep 22, and on Dec 1st it changed to "not applicable" again.

From your experience, is this considered NA3? If so, how soon should I be expecting a PPR?

Many thanks
