I am an international student and i got my visa .My college is in Peterborough Ontario and i want to visit my friends in Calgary , my program starts on 8 jan 2018. Is it ok to go Calgary before going to Ontario?

Yes it is okay. Please often visit friends and relative in other part of Canada prior to starting their study. Once you are in Canada you can be on any part of Canada.

I want to know is it ok to land directly in Calgary instead of Ontario? Or i should land in Ontario , take study permit and then go to calgary?

You will probably land in toronto or vancouver then a domestic flight. Your plan is an OK plan.
