hi.
New here. I am here right now on a USA visitor record to be with my partner. He is Canadian ... we are wanting to carry out the extension that is due t expire in December another 6 mo to get to one year of living together for common law.

I filed extension via attorney Sept 19 ... supplies letters bank statements and all info.
Just nervous now waiting.
Any luck with an extension you wish to share to calm my nerves. Ha
Thanks so much

If you stated that you were applying for an extension so that you could complete one year of living together to become common law and then have him sponsor you - then it should be approved.

September 19th was pretty early to apply. If the attorney told you to do that - it's not the best advice and wouldn't use that attorney in the future. It would have made far more sense to apply within the last month of your allowed visit expiring.

Yes we are trying to get ya that one year mark. And now I agree I should have waited to file the extension but she sent confirmation they got it sept 25. My record now expires dec 15.

So if we can make it to May -we can file the sponsee PR common law papers

We have t be living as common law one year prior to filing PR papers. This me being here 6 mo on the first record and if I get extension that will be another 6 mo to give us the one year
