Hi guys! I previously posted on here that my application went into secondary review. I recently got my PR card.

My timeline:
Sent in application: Sept 2016
Went into secondary review and asked for more documents: Oct 2016
Received new PR card: Sept 2017

The whole ordeal took 1 whole year. Glad it's over now.
Hi,

Could you please share what documents did they ask from you in October 2016?

Dear everyone,

After a secondary review and handed in required extra documents of my pr card,I got this letter about 3months ago as following. My question is ....does anyone who got their pr card after secondary review has received this letter too?how

come 3months past..there is still no news about my pr card?

thank you for your advice!

The letter:

Following a review of your file, it has been determined that you meet A28(2)(a)(i) of the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act and that you are a permanent resident who has complied with the residency obligation.

In accordance with this decision I have requested that a Permanent Resident card, valid for five years, be created. The card will either be mailed to you or you will be notified when your card is ready to be picked up. This will take approximately 8 to 12 weeks.

.........

Hi - is it worth calling that frequently? As I have read on the forums, that the operators really have no idea at what stage your application is and they give more or less the same reply that is reflected on your application's online status. Ps if you could let us know whether the operators were helpful in clarifying at what stage your application is. Thanks.
My PR card was in urgent processing so, I got an update almost everytime I called.for me updates like, yes we have recieved additional documents, when do you think these documents will be reviewed, what are general timelines etc were helpful. It was comforting to call them. They were super helpful everytime.

Today out of the blue and after 25 months waiting, my renewed PR card was in the mail box. After I received my card I checked my online status ( I am not in a habit of checking everyday or every month, in last 2 years maybe I checked my online status only 10 times). I did not call CIC during the first year but starting the second year the delay started to really mess up my travel plans. I involved my MP`s office starting September of this year and Voila I got my card in October.

Here is my timeline

- We received your application for a permanent resident card on August 14, 2015.
- We sent you correspondence acknowledging receipt of your application(s) on January 14, 2016.
- We started processing your application on January 14, 2016.
- We sent you a letter on January 19, 2016. Please consider delays in mail delivery before contacting us.
- We sent you correspondence on October 3, 2016. If you have not yet provided the information or the requested documents, please do so as soon as possible. Please wait until you receive the correspondence before sending us additional information, as the correspondence will outline all information that is required.
- We sent you correspondence on December 5, 2016. If you have not yet provided the information or the requested documents, please do so as soon as possible. Please wait until you receive the correspondence before sending us additional information, as the correspondence will outline all information that is required.
- We sent you a letter on January 6, 2017. Please consider delays in mail delivery before contacting us.
- Your Permanent Resident card was sent by mail on October 2, 2017.

No. I did not receive any emails/letters from IRCC concerning that my PR is approved or issued or anything. Last correspondence was on January 6 where they indicated that they are still waiting for my exit/entry records ( which was a mistake from their side, because I curried them entry/exit record on January 3rd and UPS tracking number showed that they received it on January 5). I gave up on them and took my case to my MP office proving through them that I have comply and provided all required documents. according to online records, my card was issued on October 2 and I received it on October 5. no 8-12 weeks wait between approval and receiving card.

You can enter with expired PR from US land border.
Options are personal or rental car and by walking also.

Hi can I just confirm if the 730 days residency requirement for PR renewal can be done in any part of the 5 years? Also does the residency requirement of 730 days apply to children under 18 years of age?
