That's crazy! Nothing seems to be very clear. I thought we would be at the London VO being in the UK but being kept in Mississauga.
Every case is unique and there is never any consistency, you can never go by someone else's time line.
It's difficult when you think you have put your life decision in someone else's hand, they literally control what will happen.
There's just so much backlog right now they are moving files around to try and eliminate that.
It's certainly not fun.

Such a frustrating process. Haven't been able to link my account for 6 weeks. Either says I made a mistake or I get an error saying the system is not available. That aside, I submitted by Police clearance and Schedule A by uploading the documents about 2 weeks ago. Took a week for them just to acknowledge that I uploaded something and that it would be forwarded to the applicable section.. medicals are done and have been for 4 weeks and still no updates other than Medicals received.. No updates on police clearances or background being received or accepted. Just frustrating.. I have been through this process in the USA before and even that was so much simpler that this.

Has anyone seen that their background check is in progress yet? How long after AOR2 does it take for them to start the background check?

Here is my timeline:

Application received Aug 9
AOR1 Sept 20
Police cert/sched A request Sept 24
SA Sept 26
Police cert/sched A uploaded Oct 17
File transfer to PAP Oct 27
AOR2 Nov 2

Today a line appeared on ecas saying:

"We sent ---- correspondence on Sept 25. If ---- has not yet provided the information or the requested documents, please have ---- do so as soon as possible. Please wait until---- receives the correspondence before sending us additional information, as the correspondence will outline all information that is required."

The only request for anything we've had so far has been sched A/police cert, and that request was made on gc key, and they've been uploaded already. Could they just be delayed in updating their info and that is what they're talking about?? Or is it something else they've requested and we never got the correspondence???

dont worry, it will be there even you have uploaded what they requested. I sent in my SCh A and PCC long ago and this line is still there. do you have a line saying "we started processing your application on XXXX" this should be there if you got the AOr2.

I have a line saying:

"We started processing your application on Nov 2"

Now today that other line appeared about sending correspondence Sept 25.

Hello everyone! My spouse and I have applied an outland spousal sponsorship with a lawyer as a representative. They didnt say specifically what day but they sent our papers August 2017.

My questions are, since then CIC hasnt taken any payments (sponsor fee and the principal sponsor fee) from us, when does CIC will take the processing payment? (Sorry, i completely lack information about this.)
And, may i know how the processing of the application works? (Like those AORs, SO, VO)

My lawyer just takes too long to reply and sucks at replying to us. Im hoping i get a little bit of idea from here at least.

Since we have a lawyer representative, we paid a large amount to them of course :( :( :( (I have so much regrets but its too late were just hoping for the best now )
And we were told to pay $550CAD separately for the government fee/Sponsor your spouse or partner without right of permanent residence fee, WHICH hasn't been taken off from our bank account.

So it seems to me that we only paid the lawyer and not the CIC yet especially the application was sent August, as our rep said. Or am i wrong?

are you sure the lawyer did not pay that portion out of what you paid them? that's what ours did. It should be in your contract. we paid them a sum to do the app, be our rep, and submit on our behalf and it was all included
