that's great
what proof of urgency did you provide?
I wrote a letter saying that me and my husband are applying for the sponsorship program and the marriage certificate is required for that. I also mentioned that my stamp in my passport expires in 6 months so that is why we need to be urgent about it. Here is our letter:

*Address*

RE: PROOF OF URGENCY TO EXPEDITE MARRIAGE CERTIFICATE

Order Number:

To: Whom it May Concern,

I am writing to request that my Marriage Certificate please be expedited.

Please find enclosed:

i) Proof of Urgency document copies

ii) Marriage Certificate Online Payment Receipt(s)

This is a letter to request your office to please process my marriage registration (license#) at your earliest convenience. I have already ordered a marriage certificate and a certified copy of registration (order. My wife, *Name*, and I, *name*, were married on *date*. I understand that this was a recent event and therefore it does not qualify for any of the expedited service options available online, however, I would still like to request you to please take this letter into account when you receive my paperwork from the officiant.

As a proof of urgency, I'm attaching a copy of my wife's visa stamp which expires on *date*. Therefore, it is absolutely essential for us that we receive the requested documents as early as possible as we are required by the CIC immigration documents checklist to attach copies of our marriage certificate and registration to apply for the Spousal Sponsorship program.

We have already requested our Marriage Certificate online, and the 8-digit Order Number we received is: *number*

Thank you kindly for your assistance.
Best regards,

Will this thread be updated for 2017 applicants? or should be use the 2016 thread?
Hey,

Does it mean your Medical request came in 5 months of application received by IRCC ? If so, have you received Approval-in-principal (AIP)

I submitted my application in June, same got received on 26June 2017, i got my OWP on 27 Sept 2017, & i am awaiting AIP

I want to know how soon AIP is coming for Inland Spousal applications submitted in 2017

I got a letter from CIC, retuning my OWP due to insufficient funds. I am at loss.. The fee is 100$, right? I just checked and see that theres OWP fee is listed as 100$ then at the bottom says to obtain a new work permit is a 155$ does it make 100$ + 155$ for actual OWP fee?

open work permit fee is $155 plus open work permit holder fee is $100. so total $255.

Hello,

My wife and I are trying to determine the best approach to the spousal application. I am a canadian born citizen and she is Chinese. She is currently here on a study permit that runs out in May 2018. We have been together for 3 years (now living together) and got married in September 2017. We expect to receive out Marriage Certificate by Mid November and send in our Full Spousal sponsorship application along with an Open Work Permit Application by the end of November. I am concerned that her legal status will run out before the applicaiton is processed. Because I am not too familiar with the process, I would like some advice on how to proceed.

1. Does obtaining the Open Work Permit "Restore" or "Reinstate" her legal status?
2. If we do not receive a Work Permit before May 2018, does she have to leave the country?
3. What is the likelihood that an Open Work Permit can be processed (assuming we fill out all the forms satisfactorily) within the Period of Nov/Dec 2017 to May 2018 given the Holiday Break.
4. Lastly, is an open work permit typically denied for any reason?

Sorry if these questions have already been asked. If you could answer my questions or simply can forward me to a recent thread, I would be Sorely thankful!!!

Thank You!
Seth
1. The permit doesn't reinstate her status. During the process of the OPW until a decision is made, she has implied status so she never really lose status until a decision is made at which point if she is approved, she can stay or if she is denied, she will have to leave immediately within reasonable time (a few days).
2. No because of 1)
3. They said average is 4 months so should be fine.
4. Not sure, unless you failed to provide everything they require? Keep in mind this is an OPW with a bona-fide intention to immigrate via spousal sponsorship so they cannot deny based on having intention to stay after it expires like applicants in worker stream.

Hi,

I have a question for Experts/Senior members if who have an idea for my query . My Spouse has US Green card and he is living in canada with me as a Visitor . He applied for spousal immigration with OWP recently . My Question is that if he leaves canada how long could he stay abroad? I know this will be a decission of Immigration officer to allow him again in Canada but is there any time line that he has to return back as his OWP and PR are being processed ? and can he stay in abroad to 1 month or more ? any idea about that just wanted to confirm is there any timeline to return back to canada? from abroad my another question is that during OWP is being processed can he go abroad and return back as well or he has to stay in Canada until he gets OWP?

Thanks in advance,

hello ,@profiler
today my cic changed from your additional documents have been updated to We do not need additional documents.
what next???
and what does it mean?
Hey Mohamed, on the WhatsApp Group as you stated that you have already provided the PCC and Sched A upfront with your application, I guess they have changed that to say they don't need any additional documents. That means now you're just in line with the rest of us waiting on a medical request (and for the background check to begin at some point). Applicants with app received dates from late April are still waiting for the med request, and everyone after it. So when they get med request, and people from May and June do, then eventually you'll get yours too (I think you're a July applicant).
For now I guess you just have to keep waiting.

AIP contains the word "eligible". That's the easy way to find it. AIP is a transition from stage 1 (Eligibility) to stage 2 (admissibility). When they say you are eligible that means you have passed:
- Sponsorship (do you have a sponsor)
- Relationship proof (are you a member of the family class?)

Stage 2 is where they look at admissibility:
- Medical must be valid at the time they seek to permit "entry" (grant a PR)
- Criminality
- Security (must be valid when they seek to permit "entry")

The most common delay in this stage is medical and security, as both are external requirements that CIC cannot expedite.

If ever in doubt, check the IP-8 PDF I posted a link to (or check CIC operation manuals for an updated link). That is 100% what they are following for guidance in approvals.

Hello i check online that thay need my interview . Date and time thay mention in the latter which is cic was send it to me on 26 October but i didn't received the letter. But in online portal says they need my interview.
