Hi,
I just received a fingerprint request, I would like to ask will it delay my application it being non-routine right now? or is it a standard that happens to everybody?

Fingerprint requests are considered non-routine, but many on this forum who got FP got delayed maybe a month or two.

FP didn’t affect the processing time of many applicants. Would you please share your timeline

Don’t worry fingerprints are quite common these times.

No I received a physical paper that I need to take with me along with 2 pieces of ID, COPR and my permanent resident card.

You will face no delay in processing , I got FP request on 26th August and on 28th August i received Test invite for 11 September. I provided Fp on 28th August. By the time of Test on 11th September , it was clear according to CIC officer. So don't worry. I already have my Oath invite for 27th October.

Look for a 3rd Party Provider accredited by RCMP, they will sent it electronically to RCMP in a format suitable for them to run the check and send it to CIC within 72 hrs.

Congrats on submitting the app, and on Egypt in the World Cup

Can I ask if you all a few questions?
- Do we have to submit the criminal record again like with PR from back home? I've been here for nearly 4 years. So from what I understand, I don't need to.
- What is this finger print thing, is it different from criminal record?
- From the timelines that you guys posted on this thread, are we expected to get citizenship in a few months only?? I thought it was a year or so? or is it on case-by.case basis.

Congrats on being here for nearly four years as well as Egypt finally qualifying for the world cup.

I guess it should be the same but not from back home, I did book an appointment in Ottawa to get the fingerprints done and I did read that they send it directly to IRCC. I guess also it is a person to person some people don't get a fingerprint request some do.

I am not sure but I will try to think they are the same just like back home they look to check if you have spent any time in jail or committed a crime, stuff like that.

I think it is case to case as thinking about it the rule for 3/5 years will be in effect tomorrow so there will be a lot of people who are eligible to apply tomorrow. I guess the estimate according to the website is 12 months for now. If they feel the need to send me RQ request I believe it will be longer than the expected time, the only people who would be able to identify how long it will be are only the people working on your case file.

I was asked to give RCMP fingerprints when I immigrated from within Canada. I suspect people who immigrate from other countires to Canada were not asked to submit them that time. So I am sure people like us who already gave RCMP finger prints will not be asked again them at the citizenship process as they can verify them.
