depeneds on what you want and your profile

Quebec is the best place to improve your french and obviusly in order to work you need to speak french unless you be software engineer. by other hand Express Entry is a little faster if you have good IELTS and province nomination also there are more provinces. At the moment it is a little eassier by Quebec than EE but system will be similar to last one

It absolutely depends upon your profile. If you know french and have friends/family in Quebec then QSW is a better option as your qualification chances will be boosted otherwise you can go with express entry...

you can provide some info about your profile then people will be able to help you better..

I don't know a single word of French language. I got both nominations, QSW(Aug,16) and FSW. With the help of this forum I want to make best decision.
Few friends suggested to go with FSW on the basis of better job prospects.

Thanks srm057 for your guidance. I have no friends in Quebec and also don't know French language, it seems that I must drop QSW option. Right?

Is language a big issue to survive in Quebec?

Guys,

I am also in the same boat... applied federal through CSQ in November but due to change in rules in November my score went to 495 by which itself i would have got ITA but before the next draw happened got nomination from Ontario and score went further up to 1095 and received ITA in december. I know for express entry processing time is 6 months and i have seen some people getting PR within 6 months of application. This is faster but i want to know if i can apply for federal through express entry(only 25 days left to submit) again as i probably need to sign form for intention to reside in Ontario. Since i currently reside in QC with job, little inclined for it but i am open to both provinces as both have opportunities in my job field. Please suggest your opinion. And if i decline the invitation, will i be back in the pool(pool expiry was dec 2016)?

Got AOR for federal app this month. i am hesitant to submit my app through express entry. But i heard in some cic website that you can submit 2 applications. Whichever gets processed faster they will consider that and will ask us to withdraw the other. See below

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/resources/tools/cit/admin/general/multiple.asp
http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/can-we-havesubmit-two-ee-pr-applications-in-process-t391599.0.html

It says you can submit 2 applications but for different programs like FSW and a PNP or FSW and a CEC but not same category both. I am not sure if QSW(paper based) and OINP(through express entry) are considered different programs.

I guess the knowledge in these forums is more than what a lawyer can suggest. But this is a real tricky question which only CIC can answer :p

French language will help your chances for your application. However, it doesn't mean that you can't survive in Montreal without French language. I am an anglophone with very limited knowledge of French. I have been living here without any issue.

French may become an issue if you are in a trade that requires frequent customer interaction. Then you must be bilingual.

My suggestion is to look for all options that can get you a PR. You can decide where you want to live once you are here.

From what I understood you will be showing dual intent in your application. If you not in hurry and you can wait for 11-12 month I would suggest to go with your QSW application and be safe..

Applying for both program is possible. But there is complication involve as you two different intent in your applications. There is a little risk here.

Thanks Srm057.... For the same reason i am hesitant to accept ITA but somehow i feel am i making a mistake by not accepting nomination from ontario and federal ITA directly..... As ontario has more oppportunities and now i am facing a problem of my wife not getting any jobs here due to french and also had to join my son in french school. I have no problem with that but feeling guilty that i will have no role in my son's education and cannot help him with his studies. Other than this i am fine with any of the 2 provinces.

Can you move your job to Ontario? If yes, then I would suggest to move to Ontario and apply with express entry.. It will solve most of your problem.

I may have to do it for the same reason. As my wife had to leave her job in a prominent Canadian bank because of bilingualism. On the other hand, my job is in technical field where bilingualism is not a necessity.

Srn,

Thanks for your replies.

Moving is not a problem as my employer is from Ontario but my client is in quebec. My work permit is extended till mid next year with place of work as quebec. So i cannot move till then. If i have to then i have to apply for a new WP which my employer will not be okay. Also since i have already submitted my QSW federal app and got AOR, i am thinking it might not be ideal to withdraw and apply through express entry now. Its complicated....

Can i have your email or phone pls?

Quebec immigration program provides you a lot of benefits. So study them carefully so you could decide whether it is better than Express Entry :
- Immigration program of Quebec is the largest by the quota after the federal.
- The program of the province of Quebec is more flexible and allows people to immigrate not only with higher education but even with secondary education.
- The process of immigration takes less time than the federal program.
- The amount of money required by the immigration authorities is much lower.
- It does not require certified confirmation of language skills, but it is necessary to learn French and demonstrate at least an average level of French in an interview.

Yes after staying here for almost 3 years, i can definitely say that its true that Quebec has lots of benefits and with Mon Project the process looks more simplified than it used to be before where it used to take 2-5 years for CSQ.
