Let me clarify this please. You need to be a full time student for all of your semesters to be considered compliant with your study permit. If you drop any subject within one term, you are in violation of your student permit and you risk it being cancelled. You will also have a problem with your post graduate work permit. You can only be part time on your last semester.

So even if it states that minimum is 9 credits, the average full time load is about 20 or more. Students have gotten denied because they were part time students instead of full time. Mag ingat po tayo
Also, just to add, you can only become part time if you have no choice. For example, you failed and have to retake a course that is only offered once a year. Otherwise, if sinadya mo na minimum load, baka po magka problema in the end. Moreover, your grades are also submitted sa immigration so if bumagak or nakita na minimum load kahit pwede naman hindi, then it raises a flag. Also, you are not actually saving money because in the long run, you are losing time amd opportunity. While you are still in school, all your classmates may have moved on and became PR na or The demand on your industry drops or new immigration policy, etc. Ect

Mas advisable pa po na mag summer classes to accelerate graduation rather than prolong your studies. Isipin niyo na lang po na almost every semester meron natatapos sa school which is competition in the job market and finding a job after graduation is not as easy either for most.

I think most people are not aware that most part time jobs are shifting jobs. Meaning, schedules change every week unless if it is a small company that only needs to hire one person on a fixed time but from what I usually see, they are rotation shifts.

Also, kahit na hire po kayo as part time, usually sa contract may naka lagay na hindi guaranteed ang hours. For your referrences lang naman po

Since sinabi ng university na "full time student = 9 credit hours = 3 subjects" at sinabi naman ng immigration na "full time students can work 20 hours per week" and sinunod mo naman ang batas and did not go beyond the school rules and immigration law, I don't see any problem.

Kung madelay man graduation, di naman nagutom mga anak at asawa mong kasama mo, and the set up worked for you, then wala naman sigurong problema. Again, as long as you follow the law and school rules.

You will recieve an email from your school regarding it once you are enrolled for the semester. We got it sa humber and was also mentioned during orientation po.

I may have not written it clearly and maybe it is best to make an example.

And then following what is at hand, someone decided to just take A, B, C only. Sure, it follows the law but when a program designed to be finished becomes extended for no valid reasonl, di po ba kayo mismo magdududa? Keep in mind that the purpose of you going here is to study and not work part time. Baka pati po ying perrmit extension magka problema.

Just for people to know, meron pa din po na dedeny ng pgwp. I can go and on and on about the wrong things my classmates did kaya nasa mga sariling bansa na sila nila ulit ngayon. My point being is, it is always advisable to finish a program within the expected time.

Don't get me wrong po, i also brought my family here and we also faced some challenges before. I know the tuition fee is expensive. :(

I have no intentions of offending you but in the event that you were, then please accept my apologies.

And Sir Mic, its true dhil nkakamatay ung tuition fee dituh. And not all Visa extensions pla, naaaprove kung hndi mu pah ntapos ung program muh? :)

Ineng, wag makulit. How can we make it clear to you that you are only be in status when you are a full time student. You have to take a full load every semester. Yes 9 credits is the minimum to be considered full time but a full course load will likely be more than that, depending on your institution.

That is why CIC is asking for proof of funds that cover your tuition and living expenses. Kasi part time work will not cover your expenses. So if you cannot make an investment, mahirap talaga. As mic-mic said you have to graduate by the time frame stated by your program. Di pwede extend Lang ng extend ng visa.

And yes, mic-mic is right, PGWPs get denied dahil me semester na part time student lang ang applicant o may online component.

But, hey, go ahead and feel free to do what you want.

The only time I heard a case where a study permit extension is refused is the korean woman have been studying in Canada for a long time. A judicial review for the officer. The visa officer argues that she been studying in Canada for a long time and is not finish yet. At the end the woman win the case and let her study permit be extended.

Diba 4 course per semester is a full load? so minus 1 course is still full time pero may mga courses na prerequisite yung previous course di ba. So kapag 2 subject ka na lang kasi di mo pwede kunin yung isang course then hindi ka na full time. Which is a violation of your student permit. Because you need to be continuously pursing full time study.

Hmm kung ako sayo I wouldn't take that risk.
I say not a good advice. Specially since most people take diploma in college

Good day po sa lahat.

Ask ko sana if pwede mag enter or mag travel sa Canada for tourism while my study permit application is in process? Will it affect the approval of my application?

Thanks!

May classmate po ako na 3 out of 5 classes ang binagsak niya sa 1st sem. Tapos bumagsak ulit nung 3rd sem. So ang ending niya, nag pakasal dito :D

I have upper batch people who successfully extended kasi yung isa namatay ang tatay, yung isa inoperahan yung mata and naging sesitive sa light and they said todo pakita ng proof. Ang usual case po kasi ng extension is when your passport/permit expires earlier than the duration of your program.

Like what you mentioned po, you cannot write sa LOE mo na, "please extend kasi naisip ko na wag kunin lahat ng required courses for that sem" which actually takes you back sa proof of funds ng application where by sinabi mo na kaya mo bayadan and then it makes them wonder, kung kaya mo bayadan, bakit di mo ginawa? :)

Pero depende din po sa case manager siguro but i would always go on the safeside lalo na kung life savings ang isusugal ko :)

Pasensya na po if I sound harsh on my previous posts but I just want aspiring applicants to be more realistic with their goals and that the challenges will be harder once graduate na kayo. Minsan po kasi we think we have a brilliant idea and will bank on it tapos pag dating dito, mapapasubo nalang and mapipilitan na gumawa ng bawal.

Just to share, more than 2 years ago, sa factory kung saan nagtatrabaho ang tito ko, nagkaroon ng raid and hinahanap nila yung illegal.

Also, if mag rely po kayo sa part time to finance the next sem, 20 hrs x 12.50 is around 1k per month. Assuming na minimum wage ang kita ninyo. Babawasan pa po siya ng tax. So if the net is 800 per month and you have 4 months before the next sem, mga kalahati lang po ang maipupundar assuming na hindi niyo magagalaw.

Guys, I need to ask if you are in Canada under student visa. Can I work upon arrival in Canada. I heard that you can work after 3 months of your arrival, how true is this?
