I agree on the practice. Practice makes perfect. I downloaded and took some free practice tests from ielts.org and the British Council

I also found ieltsforfree and ieltsadvantage to be useful. I am still on their mailing lists and recently got these links:

L- practice practice practice, u need to get 35 answers right .,means u should target 37+ In practice tests., L is most critical .

R- practice practice, easiest section

W- just not practice, improve, practice improve( on mistakes, better sentences etc), this is toughest due to keyboard/touch screen operated world

S- practice, improve , practice, improve
You need to work on speech, tense and fluency. dont cram answers.

U can do L, R alone
U shouldnt do W,S alone

Finally, kkeep in mind its a language exam, a simple well structured and grammitcally correct sentence fetches better than 'trying to impress' sentences which dont fit in.
S-Section: no matter how the examiner is looking happy, dont get triggred to speak random impressive things, just focus on tense, grammer and structure of what you speak
Its a language test not a story telling competetion.
Remember No matter what story examiner asks they just want to extract tense usage, correct word usage and natural speech.

Remember To practice most for L and W as they can wreck u with those dreaded '0.5', less than 8 and 7.

Friends , Our IELTS scheduled on 9th Sep, in my case wife is principal applicant, we need to target S 7,L 8,w 7, R 7.even i am writing test along with her ,If we are able get tht score , our CRS score will be around 433. need your advise to achieve this.

Dear Seniors,

I have a question on behalf of a friend of mine.............hie previous employer has refused to give him any reference letter.......without which his experience is less than 3 years and crs going down significantly i.e 415 from 440.............what can be done to claim points for that experience? Even his ex-colleagues refused to write anything for him......................plz advise

Hi Guys, since this topic is more active I'll ask my question here.
I created a profile , and accidentally instead of LastName i wrote FullName, although i corrected it in the end there is one place where data is not changed and still contain two FirstNames + LastName.
What do you think do i need to withdraw my application and resubmit ?

when you click on "check status and messages" button on your profile it opens a page where there is some Data Table. In this table in front of Primary column my name is still wrong with Double First Names.
thanks in advance

Hi Fellows,

Can anyone pls share an example of the Job responsibilities that he has prepared for his NOC duties? It will assist us, the self-applicants, to make the drafts for our Employment Reference Letter. Thanks in advance for your support.

Just practice Cambridge(1-12) books for Listening, Reading and Speaking. For writing tasks, read the sample letters and essays from the website as follows. You will get topics similar to whats available on the website. Just read and follow the tips. You will get the desired band in one go.

Why me? I am so sick here, I know nothing! :eek:o_O:D

I myself need a big comeback but somehow, someone stole the limelight! Oh well, I will come back some other time! :p

I wish to stay longer but in the meantime, I'd rather hibernate before I create another panic on this forum.

This is what I learned, some bad things in life are not bad at all, instead they open our eyes to see the good things we were not paying attention to before.

Thank you for the overwhelming love and care I am receiving from all of you! :)

Hey.!! Welcome Back. Still take proper rest for few days and we expect you to join us next Tuesday-Wednesday here.! Get well soon.! :):)

Hey guys! Good luck to us all in the coming weeks :);)

I have 2 questions I'd appreciate if someoen can answer them.

1. I submitted my profile on August 11th and I have a score of 427. If lets say a theres a draw later this month over 420 or 425 would I get an ITA? or does it have to be 6 months until I get selected?

2. For Ontario and BC nominations, is there a way that I can apply? Or only they can invite me to apply ? I noticed my occupation is on their wanted list.

1. You are in the pool near instantly. No waiting period

2. You need to wait for an invitation from them. I think both are closed right. Now

To add to my questions.

4.my score will go down to 422 in September. If I retake IELTS i may get an extra 3 points on my score and increase it to 425. should I do that?

Totally up to you in the end. My family can get an extra 6 points doing IELTS and ECA. Also trying to figure out if we should or not

407 is the new winning number!

We are landing next year with our PRs and the Yukon party is happening. A lot of great people are gonna have their dreams come true next year. I'll see you at the party! :)
What's the yukon party am keep hearing about? Is it synonymous to "skulls and bones" where only specific candidates are invited ? :D

This is an issue with many people here. If some one is unable to get a reference letter he/she can get the same from a reporting managing or even from a colleague. But since u have mentioned that neither is happening, he can at least try to get an email from the HR saying that the co. as a policy does not issue such reference letters. This email along with a detailed LOE will help him. Even if the co is not ready to give such email, he can submit his appointment letter/relieving letter, appraisal and promotion letters if any along with a LOE explaining the reasons for not submitting a reference letter
