That's the DM letter. Told you it was coming. Wait for the local office to contact you with an appointment.
Thanks Profiler. Appointment for an permanent residence interview to make a final decision or for landing?. I heard that for landing I can walk-in to the local office at anytime??

No you can't just walk in. It's a landing "interview". That's where they "make the final decision". That decision is positive, as long as you give them the same passport as they have on file, and proof of RPRF paid.

I see. I would like to confirm whether this is the DM letter that all in-land applicants will receive or its for the applicants who need interview? Sorry if it is a basic question. I am new to all this process and I would like to get a clear picture.

Yeah I think that's how you should be able to do it. MCP (I guess that's NFLD's Health Care??) should be able to accept the DL as ID. But bring your marriage certificate to show them as well. Shouldn't be an issue. COPR will show your maiden name, and that will be the case forever. Canada has fields in their databases of people: "Also Known As". So, the COPR can forever have your maiden name...

Unfortunately for my wife, Russia does not see things the same way. To change her surname, she will have to start at the department of internal affairs. This is where she has to apply for a new taxation account (as they cannot just rename or have an AKA). This is also tied to their internal passports (their form of government ID). Because her international passport is backed by the identity on her internal passport, her international passport becomes immediately invalidated.... and the first step of clearing up the internal affairs business takes at least 30 days to complete.... ugh!

Do you also plan to change your US passport (or are you waiting for renewal time to do that)?
thank you for your help. Yes, MCP is NFLDs health care. Ok, gotcha, the COPR paper will always be my maiden name, so my PR card will always be in my maiden name also or can that be changed? Sorry confused on that one.
Not sure if Im going to change the name on the passport just yet, it doesnt expire until 2022. I have issues with sending important things through the mail, lol...I feel there is a 50/50 chance on things getting lost and Im usually the 50% that has things lost on them, lol.

Wow, you all sure have to go through a lot to get things changed over, guess you need to do the change over when you have 30+ days to spare

If you're believing the agent, that your file hasn't been decided upon, then don't read any further in this post.

If you made it here, then what I am telling you is correct. Lately, myCIC gets to that state until you land. Then everything is "complete". ECAS is telling you that they are done. You just need to wait for an appointment to land.

At this point, neither system will change until you get the COPR at your landing. Then ECAS will say "DM" and "Complete", and myCIC will also show complete and approved.

this is exactly how my account is, nothing has changed anywhere except for those little words decision made on ecas.

Wow.. I think I'm worked up because I really thought it would fly after the medical and we could've went to see my family in Christmas but It doesn't look like I'll be landing before october
oh I am commiserating with you on this.....thought for sure I would be going back to the States before the end of the year, my family is holding off on having funeral services for my Dad till I can get there, if it wasnt for that I would be so much more patient.

60+ because it takes another 30 for the international passport to be issued. Yeah it's a mess...

You can change your PR Card, as it will use the AKA, not the maiden name. The COPR paper is only issued once and that's at the time of landing.

this is a reminder to me that my situation could be worse, sorry you or anyone else has to go through such messiness.

Oh, it's ok. No big deal -- I didn't expect anything to be easy from the Russian side. The Canadian side is dead simple.

We're deciding whether to just make the changes in Ontario (and with CIC) or not. The concern my wife has, is that the Russian Authorities might find out she has an "alias", and that might cause issues for her back home. Part of her trip is to determine the steps required over there to complete the change.

Thanks @profiler. So does it mean that they completed the sponsorship approval, Approved in principle and Decision made on the same day. Now the only pending is to receive an appointment for landing interview. Any idea how long will it take to get an appointment in Ottawa local office. What is the next step after completing an appointment? Will they stamp in my passport on the same day? Do I need to go to the border and come back or it can be skipped? If the border landing is not required, then when will I receive my PR card? Please do reply.

You've got DM though no? So you'll be sorted with PR card in hand by Christmas for sure.
