Good morning everyone. Just signed up as I have been watching everyone's posts for the last few weeks. Cic received our application Aug 23rd, 2016. AOR on Sept 21st. We did upfront medical and upfront police check. We applied for sponsorship, open work permit and PR at same time. Owp received in November 2016 i think. Children that are not accompanying medicals requested June 1st. Medical has changed to passed. I don't understand the AIP. So not sure if we have that yet. Applied to mississauga. I have not received a SA as of today.

I applied Aug 8 but after receiving my AOR I basically heard nothing again until they asked for my medical late June. Then my sponsor received his approval last week and I got my AIP and decision made all within a week of each other. My AIP letter read:

Dear … :

This refers to the Application for Permanent Residence you made under the Spouse or Common-Law Partner in Canada Class.

It has been determined that you meet the eligibility requirements to apply for permanent residence as a member of the spouse or common-law partner in Canada class. Please note that a final decision will not be made until all remaining requirements for becoming a permanent resident have been met. These requirements include medical, security and background checks for you and, if applicable, all of your family members, both in Canada and abroad, even if they are not applying to join you in Canada at this time. You cannot become a permanent resident until you and all your family members have met these requirements.

We have our interview to finalise now next week. It's stressful waiting and hearing nothing, but then it all seems to come at once... good luck

As to when the stroke was.... uhm... 2010? I think? Maybe 2009? It was the day my friend got married... I was called while I was on the 401 parked headed eastbound -- staring at Pearson... and I still had to at least drop my ex off (she was photographer) before I could turn around to head to CMH... By the time I got there, my family was all already there and he was stable. They were prepping him for CT scan (after the nurses yelled at him for not getting help sooner).

Recently, a young woman ( may mid 30's) I met a couple of times at social gatherings passed away just like that. Got a head ache and went to take a nap on the couch, but she never woke up

Well, that's what my dad did. He turned an electric kettle on (and put it on an electric stove burner, which he also turned on), and went to lay down. Luckily my brother was at their house, and when my dad started talking to him (and making no sense), my brother contacted my mom (who was working a shift at Milton District Hospital).

They needed a new kettle...

So it took you how many months total to land?

Was no scare... legit was a stroke. But yeah he's totally fine (mostly). Just doesn't like to drive into Kitchener (or anywhere that he has to think about where he is, and how he got there). He also doesn't like wal-mart or home depot (crowds). Otherwise, he lives life normally every day.

To his credit... I don't like driving into Kitchener either. I'd take Toronto any day

Well, the Profilers will just drive to him instead then!
Dad is 68, basically hates the same things( crowded places, driving to places he isn't familiar and that is more than 30 mins away...also the 401, 403, QEW, highways basically)....no stroke...just anxious

That was the big thing that we noticed. Sometimes he will get a little confused too (but that could just be age). Funny ... you're dad was born in '49? Both my parents are from '50.

So we are pretty close in time lines.

Your timeline seems to be inline with others. AIP is a letter that usually comes after SA (it says you are eligible to apply for permanent residence). This letter gives you the ability to (in a couple provinces) apply for health care...
