Can anyone of you personally share a pdf copy of Ontario driving manual? Not sure where to get it.
It's right there under Ref section in my original post.

I had an Alberta Advanced Road Test shortly after landing. I had submitted my drivers licence from home country and was deemed qualified to do either the Basic or the Advance Road test. I opted for the Advanced test and passed. So I never held a Basic Licence. I drove regularly in Calgary for a year, and on the TransCanada highway for 6 months within the same year.
However, upon moving to Ontario, I was so shocked to my guts that my Advance Licence from Alberta could only be exchanged for Ontario's Basic Licence. Why??? Only because my Alberta's Advanced licence was not up to 2 years old. Therefore, if I still want the Advanced Licence in Ontario, I must undergo another Advanced Road Test. It is not as though these tests are free! So I am presently on a Basic Ontario Licence. My Advanced Alberta Licence was taken from me. Even if I moved to another province, I have lost my Advanced Licence Status. I am not willing to pay for Ontario's Advanced Road Test.
Ontario! What a ridiculous province!

Hi Rossei,

Need some advise from you. I am currently in Singapore and have the following licence under my belt. I am trying to understand your table a bit, from my side it seems the last section is being cut off from my screen. I am seeing 12 to 23 months, and >23 months. is there another column to to right?

I am holding the following licence:
1. Car Licence - Obtained in Jan 2013
2. Heavy vehicle up greater than 2500KG but up to 7250KG - Oct 2014
3. Heavy Vehicle up greater than 7250KG - March 2015
4. Motorcycle - Less than 200CC Feb 2015

I am not from a reciprocal country. If I want to do a conversion of the above licence, am I correct to say that I fall into the >23 months category, whereby it is a must for me to take a G1 Test, follow by G2 and thereafter G test.

Appreciate your advise.

If you have landed in Ontario as FSW outland can you share how you got your driving license. Like
1) Did you get an exchange license in Ontario?
2) What class?
3) How much time it took to come in your mailbox? etc etc
Thanks

The options you have and the way processing of driving licence exchange depens highly on the country your original licence is from. For example, in Ontario, there is a small number of so-called reciprocal countries were you have to do nothing but fill out a form and do a vision test to get a full-G licence immediately. If your country is not on that list, the process in very different.

Drivers Licence exchange has nothing to do with your status in Canada (PR, temporary resident, FSW or CEC or what not). It only depends on the country your licence is from (and the class of that licence of course).

How much time it takes to receive the card license in mailbox?
Thanks

Does anyone knows if its possible to get the G2 Licence without the original foreign driver licence? I was prepared and have copies of my licence, certified translations, original driving records from my country that specify the valid period of my current licence, but I lost my licence plastic yesterday and cant find it...

Sorry, I was away from this forum for some time. Yes, the table is skewed. Here's a correct view:

Tests< 12 months12 – 23 months> 23 months
G1 TestMustMustMust
G2 Test12 months waiting minus any credited experienceCan be taken anytime post-G1 Can be waived
G Test12 months waiting post-G2 12 months waiting post-G2Can be taken anytime post-G1 (but if you fail, you will need to take both G2 & G)
Vision Test MustMustMust

And yes, you fall into >23 Months category. G1 test is just the written test (not any road test). As far I know, everyone needs to take it regardless. If you can show proper identification and driving record; you can take G Test (aka G2 Exit Test) on road anytime after you pass the written test (G1). You don't have to take G2 road test unless you fail G.

I hope I made myself clear.

If you click on "Collection of My Posts" down at my signature below, you will find bunch of links to my posts/threads. The 2nd last list of my links are re: visitor visa. There is also a direct link to "Invitation Letter" in my signature.

There are already bunch of threads for this purpose. And I used to post there frequently, specially in Super Visa related ones. I don't feel like creating another one which will be lost in few days.

Hi Rossei,

I have two licenses as I am a citizen of 1 country but a resident of another, and now, a Canadian PR who has done a soft landing, but will be moving early next year.

I hold an Indian license since 2003, where I have extensive driving and riding experience of many years, and a Singaporean license since 2014, where I have riding experience for a year, but no driving experience.

Which license should I apply credits for against an Ontario license?

What's riding experience? Do you mean to say that you never drove in Singapore with your license? If you have a valid license, does it matter?

If you have a valid Singaporean license that is more than 2 years old and can bring a driver's abstract from Singaporean Transport Authority, I will tell you to use that as it's most current. Otherwise, use the Indian license. Mind you, your license needs to be valid when you apply for credits in Ontario.

@kurtrules If you are in Singapore, you can head down to Traffic Police @ Ubi Road to get them to print out your class of driving licence. As you should be aware, Singapore Driving licence does not have an expiry date. So in my opinion, you can use this to apply for your Canada licence. Time line as such to which class of licence you get in Canada, you can use Rossei earlier post as a guideline.
