Your IELTS results do not expire for citizenship purposes. You can use the same IELTS results that you received for your PR. For more information on the score you need to achieve, please refer to the post on this page from oomuchi.
Thanks a lot, GiantPanda.

One last thing is throwing me off here, and I hope someone can advise please.

My wife's Surname changed from "Jane Doe" to "Jane Rock" . She has an updated PR Card which has her new names "Jane Rock" but her confirmation of PR card still has her former name, "Jane Doe".

Now I am confused her she should complete the sections of the application form? What should she put on question 3.A knowing that her two immigration documents have two different surnames?

Question 3. A – Name as shown on Immigration Documents
Last Name
Given names

Question 3. B - Your current Name if different from above
Last Name
Given names

Thanks for your help
I'm on the same boat but have not yet found a firm answer either.
A coworker of mine, who applied in 2015 right before C-24 come into force, filled the name on PR Card in Q3.A and left Q3.B blank. She also attached a letter explaining the situation along with all name change documents. Her application was approved so I plan to do the same.

Good. It's good news to know your coworker took this rout, and all went well. Unless we get an otherwise answer, this looks good to me as well. Thanks for sharing this information.
Joe.

i wanted to know in the new bill c6 : minors can apply independently without canadian parents

my question is that minors dont need to fulfill the physical presence condition, so can they apply independently even if they dont fulfill the physical presence condition

your reply will be appreciated.

Cannot answer the specific question but looks like the application form has been changed whether a conincidence or to do with C6 who knows http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/minors.asp

According to the new rules, mid January 2018 I will meet the residency requirement by cic (I became PR mid January 2016 and have been in canada before as an international student for a couple of years). I have been filing my tax since I came to Canada every year. Based on new rules: "Applicants must file Canadian income taxes, if required to do so under the Income Tax Act, for three out of five years, matching the new physical presence requirement." Since in mid January 2018 I will not have filed my tax for 2017 year yet and I can do it as early as end of February 2018 and will have notice of assessment at end of April 2018, I was wondering that I will have to wait till end of April 2018 to get my notice of assessment for 2017 or in a sense that I will meet the residency requirement in January 2018 I can apply that time?

Hi Experts,

Need your expertise. My son's passport didn't have surname (indian passport authority mistake) and that is why Landing form, PR card and SIN number is blank in front of First name however Surname has complete name as XXXXX Kumar.

Now he has got new passport with correct details. Do I need to change his PR card and SIN number before applying for Citizenship alongwith me?
What should me my next action, if any?

Thank you for your clarification. Thus, based on your clarification, any visitor would be able to show residence in Canada by virtue of an entry and exit stamp on their passport and claim pre-PR credit.
As I mentioned before, entry records and hotel receipts are not enough to prove "temporary residence" to claim pre-PR credit. A visitor can claim pre-PR credit if for example has a name on a lease. CIC officials can determine what documents are good enough to prove "temporary residency" to claim pre-PR credit. If someone was only using Entry/Exit records to claim pre-PR credit, that person is going to be disappointed and wasting his/her time as CIC officials are not going to accept them as proof to claim pre-PR credit under visitor status.

Under C-6, is the following criteria still valid for calculating days present in Canada (taken from
CIT 0407 (06-2015) E, "HOW TO CALCULATE PHYSICAL PRESENCE"):

• You leave Canada on July 5 and return to Canada on the same day; total number of days absent = 0
• You leave Canada on July 5 and return to Canada on July 6; total number of days absent = 0
• You leave Canada on July 5 and return to Canada on July 12; total number of days absent = 6

Will my wife and I have to give IELTS again when applying for Citizenship? We last gave the IELTS exam in May 2014 for our PR applications.

Thank you.

If a minor is applying independently from parents who are not Canadian themselves, the minor must still meet the 3/5 residency rule first to qualify for citizenship. Physical presence condition is not required ONLY when one of the minor's parent is Canadian.

If the IELTS was specifically taken for the purpose of Canadian Immigration and submitted at the time of application, then you just have to send a photocopy of that result (even if expired). This is 100% confirmed, as it is mentioned on the website and I know numerous people who have done the same and are currently citizens.

Yes, IELTS was given in May 2015 specifically for the PR application. General IELTS.
