Where did you complete you masters or Bachelors degree from? you can use those certificates with transcripts if the program was in english and the transcripts and certificate were in english as well.
My Masters and B.Sc were done in English in non English speaking country. But I have my Ph.D. Certificate from United Kingdom from well known university... and the guidelines say:
A diploma or certificate from a secondary or post-secondary school indicating successful graduation from a program conducted in French or English, either in Canada or abroad.

It's better to use the original booklet from website as per CIC, and it's free.
yeh!! booklet from CIC and do lots of online tests.. as many as possible and follow forums for previous questions.. had 2 surprise questions for me even after going through all that.. but you could answer them. no need to spend more money. Get to know your provincial govt and opposition leaders as well as national. Since they change.. cant rely solely on books.

You are right. I'm not sure why that agent i told you about insisted on including transcripts. you should be good with a certificate from UK. if the masters program is done in english from a non speaking english country (english transcript & Certificate) i think that you should add that certificate and transcript just in case.

there is no criteria on how ppl receive AOR's as you can see it is not according to first come first processed. you can see on the sheet that some ppl have application received by CIC May 1st and still no AOR while others CIC received date May 23rd and have received their AOR already. so be patient and as long as you don't get your application returned in the mail then you're good. and I have seen some applications on previous months that have been really delayed in the beginning but then have accelerated to over pass other applications that were doing really good.

my Application received May 15th and no AOR yet (Mississauga).
Thanks Tameraq. Its really laughable that CIC does not even follow any order as far as generating AOR (which is simply an acknowledgement). Hope common sense and fairness prevails..: It should be first come first and should respect a candidate..

So I guess no one has an answer for my question? I'm copying my post again.. I would appreciate if someone could help me with my 2nd point atleast if not the whole thing..

Hi guys, I'm actually now working on my mom's application for citizenship and I have some questions for her application if someone could help me..

1. In the past 6 years, she's stayed in Canada for 4 complete and 1 partial year. She had forgotten to file taxes for that partial year since she was new and alone. Although she has filed taxes for 4 of the 6 years, I'm wondering if I should get her to file that 1 partial year's taxes too before the application- or can it wait till later??

2. She went on a vacation to India and Dubai for 2 months last year where she didn't really have fixed addresses. Where and how should I report this in the application? Since it doesn't fall under work or education right..its between a work period actually..

Will appreciate any feedback. Thanks! :)
Good luck to everyone!

Did she make any money that year? If yes, file the tax for that year.

If she was employed in Canada at that time and took time off (vacation or whatever) for the trip, you should not mention it at all in the work/education question. It should simply be covered by her employment that started before the trip and ended after the trip (just like a regular vacation). The time spent during the trip outside of Canada should be mentioned in the physical presence calculator.

Thank you so much! Cleared up the confusion I had! :)

Hi, this answer helped me a bit. However i will be very happy if someone answer my question below.
I will be ready to apply in July. For language proof what can I use? My IELTS score is expired. I can add my bachelor and masters transcript for proof of english though they are from non english country (medium was english). Do I need to give both IELTS and transcripts or anyone will work (specially IELTS copy). Please help

I called the IRCC regarding this point. The agent told me that they need only one piece of evidence as the guidelines indicated.
Expired IELTS is ok too.
Results of an accepted third-party test at the equivalent of Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB/NCLC) / Niveaux de compétence linguistique canadiensFootnote 1 level 4 or higher in speaking and listening either done previously for immigration purposes (acceptable even if expired) or done specifically for citizenship purposes. Test results from the following list are acceptable:
  • Canadian English Language Proficiency Index Program General Test (CELPIP-G) or the CELPIP-General LS (listening and speaking), not the academic version.
  • For tests taken after April 1, 2014, you must have achieved a score of level 4 or higher (up to 12) in listening and speaking.
  • For tests taken before April 1, 2014, you must have achieved a score of 2H or higher (i.e., 3L, 3H, 4L, 4H, 5L, or 5H) in listening and speaking.
  • International English Language Testing System (IELTS), general training, not the academic version You must have achieved a score of:
    • 4.0 or higher in speaking, and
    • 4.5 or higher in listening. (Please note: If the test was done before November 28, 2008, we will accept a level 4 or higher); or

When I applied I went to a community center in Mississauga that helps new immigrants apply for citizenship they go thru your application and make sure everything is in order. I have the same situation I have a masters degree from California state University (2003) and I included a copy of the diploma only. so the agent asked me to include a copy of the transcripts too as my application could be returned because of that so i told her that according to their requirement sheet it doesn't show that i need to provide both so she said I know that they need both! so i included both (certificate & transcripts) just in case. I hope this helps.
Do you have the address of that community centre in Mississauga? I can take my application for review before submission
Thank you
