My work permit and Temporary Resident Visa is valid till end of 2018, but im losing my job next week. Am i legally allowed to reside in canada till the end of my work permit/visa?

Yes, you can remain in Canada. Assuming you have a closed work permit, if you wish to work a different job, you will need a new work permit.
