Refugee Travel Document - Timeline 2026!

Hi everyone! This was my second time obtaining a Canadian Refugee Travel document, now as a PR holder. I know this process can be stressful, so I thought creating this thread to share timelines might be helpful.

When applying first time in 2022, it took IRCC 10 months to process my application. Partially due to it being incomplete and because IRCC had a huge post-pandemic backlog. So make sure to read instructions and triple check the form you filled out. Remember, it’s better to send more documents than you’re required to rather than submitting an incomplete application and getting your application delayed for months!

My RTD timeline 2026:

Application sent by courier (Purolator) - October 8,
Application delivered - October 13,
Application processed - October 23,
Refugee Travel Document received - October 29.

Hopefully, you’ll receive your RTD soon! Since your application was delivered on October 14, it’s still relatively early. Processing times can vary, so keep an eye on your mail and any updates from IRCC.

Good thing now I see that ircc sending emails when your application approved. My previous rtd so did not get any info.
