Yeah that’s so weird. Maybe they don’t need to initiate it as the info sharing part of the external agencies background check.

Everyone tell me different information.

Don’t worry. If you applied to extend your work permit before your current one expired, your current work permit remains valid until you receive the new one.

A one-year automatic extension is granted, but it is not possible to extend the SIN number with it. If the SIN could be extended using this, the hardship might be alleviated; however, in general, the IRCC needs to resolve these bureaucratic issues and, above all, quickly approve people's permanent residency.

Before your temporary extension letter expires in January 2027, hopefully you will have received your eCoPR. In my case, once I became a permanent resident, I noticed that my work permit application was automatically withdrawn in my GCKey account because I no longer needed a work permit.

A friend of mine also had their work permit approved after seven months. How is it possible for a work permit application for a "protected person" to remain stuck for that long?

You are essentially stripping someone who has the right to live and work in Canada of their right to work. There is no excuse for this; it is a completely wrong—and, in my opinion, unlawful—practice.

You can work if your application is in process!! You can send your employer the screenshot of gc key account or confirmation letter
