I’m looking to hear from anyone who has filed a mandamus application for a Protected Person Permanent Residence application, whether your case is ongoing or already completed. When did you apply for PR and are there any reasons for longer processing?

When did you apply for PR and are there any reasons for longer processing?

According to my GCMS notes, my file has been completely inactive since March 2025 There has been no progress since then. Everything has been passed except security, which has not even started, while information sharing is still in progress.
It has now been 36 months since I submitted my application.

What do the GCMS notes say (you can post without identifying information) and do you have anything like criminal charges or other inadmissibility issues that may have put processing on hold? What steps have you tried to get your processing moving?

No, I don’t have any criminal history. I honestly don’t know why my application is being held up.

My MPA told me there’s nothing more they can do. They said my only option is to file a mandamus application if I want to take legal action.

I also consulted a few immigration lawyers. Some advised me to keep waiting, while others recommended filing a mandamus application right away, saying that a demand letter usually doesn’t make a difference.

I’m honestly confused and don’t know what the best course of action is. That’s why I’m looking for people who have already filed a mandamus application to share their experience.
