When you hit one year of living together, you should update CIC that you are common law and update CRA . You don't need to update PNP office. If your partner is already PR , you just need to send letter of explanation and attach copy of his PR card through webform.
Hi Miss bee,

Thank you for your quick response! I still don’t have my Application number because I haven’t received my AOR. Should I still update IRCC through the web form? Also, updating CIC should I use this email: question@cic.gc.ca (it was the only contact I could find online). And send a letter of explanation just stating my update of becoming common law? Do I need to include the signed and notarized document confirming common law (Statutory Declaration of Common-Law Union (IMM 5409)) and other proof like rental agreement or will attaching a letter and his PR card be enough? Since we became common law about a month ago, will there be a problem in the reporting delay?

I appreciate the help with these questions!

Wait for AOR , when you get it , send webform attaching copy of your partner's PR card .

@Miss bee Quick question. I just finally received P1 email after months and months of waiting.

I tried reply to that email with required info, but I send an empty email by mistake lol. So what I did is I replied to that empty email and answered P1 accordingly. I know I'm overthinking but that empty email shouldn't be an issue right. Cheers

Hi @leedo when you got FD? And how many months you wait after FD to P1?

Please Answer thanks

@Miss bee any alternative portal to check the application status other than IRCC tracker? Because in GCKEY Login we can have general information only.

Hi @Miss bee
I just called IRCC and received an update on my application. My Primary Visa Office (PVO) is RROC, and my Secondary Visa Office (SVO) has changed from Sydney to Colombo.

Is it normal for the secondary office to change to a local location such as Colombo (I'm Sri Lankan from Colombo)? I was under the impression that there is no IRCC office in Colombo.

At this stage, does having Colombo as the SVO raise any concerns regarding additional reviews, a Procedural Fairness Letter (PFL), or even a refusal? Or is this considered a normal part of processing?

Timeline:
• ITA: 18 Dec 2025
• Application Submitted: 3 Feb 2026
• AOR: 3 Feb 2026
• Stream: French Draw
• Location: Outland
• Medical: 03 Mar 2026 (Upfront)
• Biometrics: 04 Mar 2026
• Eligibility: Passed on 18 Mar 2026 (according to the tracker)
• Current offices: PVO – RROC | SVO – Colombo
• Prepare for Life in Canada email: 05 May 2026

Background Check Status:
• Info Sharing – Completed
• Criminality – Not Started
• Security – Not Started

I have already registered for several pre-arrival services, and I am a bit worried because they ask for an expected arrival date in Canada. Given my current status, I'm unsure what timeline would be realistic.

Any insights would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
