Nexus card for protected person/ PR card holders

Hi everyone, Just wondering if anyone has a similar situation.
I’m a Canadian PR, former Protected Person, with a valid 5-year Refugee Travel Document and a 10-year U.S. B1/B2 visa. Not applied yet for Ca citizenship.
Has anyone with a similar background successfully received a NEXUS card? How long did the process take?
Also,Eligible for J1 visa , I’m planning to may live in Ontario side while commuting to USA for training/work daily. Is anyone doing something similar?

Would probably specify during this Trump administration since what was once possible may no longer be possible.
