I applied for Canadian citizenship in Feb 2024. All stages are completed except security clearance. IRCC keeps saying it’s a non routine application under security review. My MP contacted them and got the same response.

I’m a physician and need to travel abroad for conferences. My PR card expires in 2 months.

Did anyone renew their PR card while citizenship was still in process? Any issues with travel or the citizenship application? How long did your security stage take?

Thousands of people renew their PR card when the citizenship application is in process. These are separate and don't affect each other. You can travel as you wish, as long as you make sure you are in Canada for oath ceremony.
As for how long security check takes, well, for most people stuck, between 2 and 3 years...

Spouse did this, took about 45 days for the PR card (basically the expected timeline at the time). Got stopped at secondary entering Canada a couple times between when the new card was 'approved' (mailed) and received - no problem, they were just checking because two valid PR cards in existence (temporarily), officer informed it had been mailed. Rec'd by mail before any online info on the renewal app was available.
