Hi everyone,
*Fina Yr Student at UG level, 2 courses remaining (Sept-Dec is final semester), entered Canada on Dec 26, 2023*

My SP & TRV are expiring Nov 30th, and I’ve already started my application to extend but I want clarity on this.

My Passport has been water-damaged, and a replacement takes 3-4 months with my consulate within Canada vs my home country offering same day + 3 days PP replacement. Therefore, I’ve decided to apply for an Emergency Certificate; not only because of my PP but I have a relative in their final days due to Cancer.

I wish to travel home BUT, considering I’ve started the application and it would be submitted while outside of Canada:

- Should I use IMM 1294 (Made Outside Canada) instead?

I did some reading, and apparently I would be applying for a new SP since I’d be submitting the application outside of Canada, therefore, I’ll have to stay in my home country until I get the LOI and PP request - can anyone confirm this, please?

Also - Yes, I’m doing a LOE explaining my situation throughly, and have attached a picture of my damaged PP, current PP and a space reserved for my new PP (alot other pics are included to support EVERYTHING in my LOE). And yes, the new PP # is what Im putting on the forms.

When are you returning to Canada? Why not just apply to extend when you return?
Hi, I would be returning in June. Because once I have a new passport, I would like to replace my visas too - just so im not in such a ‘restrictive’ situation.

I checked the IRCC processing time. As of May 13th, within Canada it is 6 weeks vs my home country its 4 weeks. Just a 2 weeks difference, maybe applying when I get back is something I could do. Thanks!
