Hi everyone,

Just have a quick question, I have 2+ years of work experience in USA as a software developer, my H1B was not picked. Was wondering if I switch my job to social worker for health & social worker category will I be eligible? & will it create any problem?

Sure you may be asked to provide BSW or licensing in your state or proof you can be licensed in Canada. IRCC may want to know you have the education and experience to become licensed in Canada.

How to show proof that I can be licensed in Canada? NOC42201 can be considered? It usually requires college diploma but does not have to be in social service. I am actually planning to shift & work 1 year just to be considered for social service draw in future

Look at licensing requirements by province with your education and work experience. As per the NOC:
  • Completion of a college or university program in social work, child and youth care, psychology or other social science or health-related discipline is usually required.
